Mikael Leonovich Tariverdiev is a famous Soviet and Russian composer, People's Artist of the USSR. He is known to a wide audience primarily as the author of music for films ("The Irony of Fate, or Enjoy Your Bath", "Seventeen Moments of Spring", etc.). But the composer also wrote operas, romances, vocal cycles and serious instrumental music.
Biography
Mikael Tariverdiev was born on August 15, 1931 in Tiflis into an Armenian family. Mikael spent his entire adult life with music. He studied at the music school in the piano class, then in the music school in the composition class, and then entered the Yerevan Conservatory, where he studied for only a year and a half. The serious talent of Mikael Tariverdiev felt cramped in his native Armenia, and the future composer set off to conquer Moscow.
Mikael Tariverdiev entered the composition department of the Moscow Gnessin Music and Pedagogical Institute. Professor Aram Khachaturian became his mentor, who immediately saw his young talent.
Soon the composer wrote a vocal cycle, which was performed by the famous chamber singer Zara Dolukhanova in the large hall of the Moscow Conservatory. Recognition was slowly getting closer to the composer. He soon made his film debut in The Youth of Our Fathers.
Tariverdiev's music has a special flavor inherent only to him. It combines classical musical canons with Armenian intonations and Soviet dynamics. Mikael Tariverdiev tried to combine academic means of expression and the interests of the mass audience. And he was quite successful in this, which is why Tariverdiev's music is so loved by Soviet and Russian listeners.
Mikael Tariverdiev died at the age of sixty-four from a heart attack. Buried in the Armenian cemetery in Moscow.
Personal life
The composer's personal life is very interesting and dramatic. In his youth, the composer met with the famous artist Lyudmila Maksakova. Once they were driving Tariverdiev's car through the night Petersburg and knocked down a pedestrian to death. Lyudmila was driving. But when the traffic police arrived at the scene, Mikael Leonovich took the blame. He was arrested and imprisoned for two years. Lyudmila Maksakova did not remain faithful to her savior and defiantly left with her friends right from the courtroom. The actress told everyone that the composer was driving the car. This unthinkable story formed the basis of the film "Station for Two".
Mikael Leonovich was married three times. The first wife, Elena Vasilievna Andreeva, presented the composer with her only son, Karen. Karen Tariverdiev was a paratrooper, officer, fought in Afghanistan, was awarded orders and medals. After retirement, he worked as a journalist, wrote articles about the Afghan war.
The composer's second wife was Eleanor Maklakova, professor and production designer. With his third wife, Vera Gorislavovna, Tariverdiev lived for 13 years, and she became the keeper of the composer's legacy.
