Veronica Andrusenko (Popova) is a swimmer who plays for the honor of Russia at many world championships. For more than 10 years she has been swimming in open water, at short and long distances. Shows excellent results.
short biography
Popova Veronika Andreevna was born on January 20, 1991 in the town of Mikhailovka, Volgograd Region. Since childhood, parents have tried to identify the interests of the child. Veronica attended many circles. First there was an art school, then ballroom and sports dances. Then rhythmic gymnastics, and they focused on it. We decided that this is a female sport and the girl should be flexible, plastic and light.
Veronica was engaged in gymnastics for several years, got into the group of "stars". The coach, who noticed her successes, suggested mastering more complex exercises and elements of gymnastics. Later, they noticed that the girl began to curvature of the spine. Doctors advised swimming.
Swimming at the insistence of doctors
At the age of 8, Veronica came to the swimming pool of the sports school of the Olympic reserve in Nevinnomyssk. She did not know how to swim and did not even think about any records and achievements. Up to 8 cl. she studied under the guidance of T. S. Dobrevoy.
She studied well. She graduated from high school with three grades. In high school, it was difficult to combine swimming and study. The workout started at six in the morning, then 6 or 7 lessons at school. There was no time to chat with friends. She diligently did her homework and went to bed. Since childhood, she had some kind of "hyperresponsibility". She wanted to be the best in every business that she was fond of. Dad taught her this.
She went to grade 9 in St. Petersburg. She successfully completed eleven classes and achieved the first sports categories in swimming. At 14 y. she already had her first youth category in swimming. At 16 y. - master of Sport. At 17 y. confirmed the rank of master of sports of international class.
Serious swimming is the meaning of life
From 2010 to 2017, one championship followed another. She remembered the 2012 Olympics in Chartres, where she won gold at the 100-meter distance. She recalls that it was then that she seriously thought about what swimming meant to her.
It became clear to her that she needed to focus on this good thing. After all, she succeeds in everything, and she worthily represents the honor of Russia.
The most difficult was the Olympics in Rio in 2016. Veronica recalls the tense situation among the athletes. There were many experiences related to the doping lists, in which many Russian swimmers found themselves. Until recently, they did not know whether they would take part in the championship or not. As a result, the Russian team performed without much success. Silver was won by Yulia Efimova at the 100-meter and 200-meter breaststroke distances.
Not everything is so smooth in the sports world
A successful sports career is not easy. This is a daily overcoming of oneself, one's laziness and inertia, internal and external conflicts, often, a difficult building of relations between a coach and an athlete, problems in personal life, restriction in nutrition, in free time.
Veronica experienced more than one disappointment from failures from not achieved victories. Several times I wanted to leave the sport due to conflicts with the coach Mikhail Vladimirovich Gorelik.
But everything returned to normal when Vyacheslav appeared in her life. He helped her to cope with difficulties and supports her in everything, now his wife Veronica. After all, they live in the same world, the world of swimming.
Meeting with a loved one
Veronica Popova's husband Vyacheslav Andrusenko is a swimmer. Since 2010 he has been training under the guidance of Sergei Yuryevich Tarasov.
They had known each other since the time Veronica arrived in St. Petersburg, but they did not come close. They were brought closer together by the Olympic Games in Berlin in 2014. As Vyacheslav recalls, while walking there, he thought that he should pay attention to the blonde girl and get to know her better. They got married in 2017.
Both graduated. Veronica has a higher coaching education from the N. N. Lesgaft. Vyacheslav has two higher - sports management and pharmacological support for athletes of the highest category. They joke that there is a manager and a teacher in their family, and even to some extent a doctor who will solve the problem with medications if they are suddenly needed.
Future plans
Today Veronica's life is completely devoted to sports, progress and improvement of achievements. In 2020, together with Vyacheslav, they want to go to the Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
After the end of her sports career, Veronica may stay in swimming. As a child, she dreamed of becoming a psychologist and communicating with children. Plunging headlong into the inner world of swimming, she realized that many athletes need moral support, especially before a decisive start.
Vyacheslav's dream is a house and a serene life.
