The grandparents of modern young people knew exactly the answer to this question. Still, they had to carry with them to the institute a three-volume edition of "Capital" and write essays and term papers on it. And the younger generation sees only the figures of an overweight, bearded citizen installed on the squares and streets of the same name. But Karl Marx was a very controversial person.

Step 1

His father was a respectable lawyer who changed his religion in a very timely manner. After that, his career went uphill, and he was able to provide his children with a decent life. And young Karl, the grandson of a rabbi, grew up with the conviction that religion is something illusory and convenient for advancing in life. Karl was a favorite of his parents and could always count on their support, including financial.

Step 2

After graduating from high school, Karl studied law in Bonn and then in Berlin. He studied well, but became famous not for his knowledge, but for his participation in drinking bouts and debauches. Needless to say, he regularly received funds for these purposes from home. His father only clutched his head, receiving another letter with a request to send money. But Karl's parents were even more frightened by the new student fashion - participation in duels. This was not only dangerous but also illegal. So Marx's father even had to bribe the court when the son was detained in Cologne with a rapier. Therefore, the parents were pleased that the second hobby of their son - writing rather average poems - would not harm either health or wallet.

Step 3

At the University of Berlin, the interests of the young Marx include Kant, Fichte, Feuerbach, and later he became an admirer of Hegelian philosophy. A friend of the Marx family, secret adviser Ludwig von Westphalen, played an important role in this. Karl secretly became engaged to his daughter Jenny while still a student. Despite the excellent relations between the Marxes and the Westphalians, the engagement, and subsequently the marriage, did not cause much joy. Jenny was a beautiful but completely impractical dowry aristocrat from a ruined family. And for her family, marriage to Karl was a perfect misalliance. However, in terms of impracticality and inability to manage finances, the young were very suitable for each other.

Step 4

In 1842, the first meeting of Marx with a man who became his reliable friend and support for his whole life, Friedrich Engels, takes place. Although they could find a common language only a couple of years later, after a long correspondence. During this period, the Marxes lived in France, Engels in Germany. They periodically had problems with the law. So it seemed logical to emigrate to a neutral country. It turned out to be England. It was here that the first international workers' association was created with branches in many European countries and the USA - the International.

Step 5

In parallel with political and social activities, Marx develops an economic theory, the crown of which was the analysis of the production and circulation of capital. The first volume of the book of the same name was published during the life of the author, the subsequent ones were prepared for publication by his friend and colleague Engels. In the same place, in Capital, Marx turns to social philosophy. He considered her questions in the "Manifesto of the Communist Party" and other works. Social philosophy was also reflected in the works of Engels. Some of Marx's predictions came true at the beginning of the twentieth century, although not in the way Marx assumed. This was due to the fact that he underestimated the influence of religious and ethnic factors on the development of society.
