Manufacturers of power supplies can be roughly divided into three groups. The first is those companies that design and manufacture their own products. They are a minority. The second group is those that themselves are engaged in the design of the product, but the production is entrusted to an outside company. The third group is companies that do not design and manufacture power supplies themselves, but only add a label, box and instruction manual.

The quality of the power supply unit depends, of course, not on the brand under which it is marketed, but on the actual manufacturer. The brand affixed to the product may be widely known, but the quality level is poor.

Sometimes an interesting situation arises when two different brands offer the same PSU. This is due to the fact that quite a few manufacturers manufacture products for several brands.

The two companies can enter into an agreement with each other whereby the original manufacturer can sell products to other companies. Often, an agreement assumes that a PSU manufactured under one brand will be exclusive, while other products can be sold to other companies.
Step 5
So how can you reliably find out who is the real manufacturer of a particular power source? The easiest way is to check the corresponding registration number, which should be affixed to the power supply or on a sticker to it.
Step 6
Another way to find out the manufacturer of your power supply is to look inside the product. This method is more reliable. Of course, by opening the power supply, you lose the right to warranty service. But very often you can establish a real manufacturer simply by looking at the space between the fan blades.
Step 7
For example, most power supplies made by CWT, for example, use green insulating tape. Therefore, pay attention to transformers and other elements of the layout of the power supply. The presence of green tape on them allows you to confidently identify the manufacturer.
