Biography
Yuri Yulianovich Shevchuk is a famous Soviet and Russian rock musician, songwriter, poet, actor, artist, producer and public figure. Yuri Shevchuk was born on May 16, 1957 in the village of Yagodnoye, Magadan Region. The family had two more children - sister Natalya and brother Vladimir. Little Shevchuk from childhood was drawn to creativity. At first, he was very interested in drawing, and when the family moved to Nalchik, he added a music school to the art school.
When Yuri was 13 years old, he again changed his registration and moved to Ufa. There, the teenager continued to study the fine arts at the House of Pioneers and play the button accordion and guitar in the school ensemble "Vector". After school, the young man decided to become a professional artist and entered the Bashkir Pedagogical Institute at the art and graphic faculty. He received a higher education, but in his student years, his love for paintings lost his love for rock and roll that had come into fashion. Shevchuk plays in the amateur groups "Free Wind" and "Kaleidoscope", receives awards for the lyrics of his songs.
Creativity and career
Yuri Shevchuk wrote his early songs under the influence of domestic bards, primarily Vladimir Vysotsky, Bulat Okudzhava, Alexander Galich, as well as Russian poets of the Silver Age - Osip Mandelstam, Sergei Yesenin and others. Yuri Shevchuk continued to develop the theme of Vysotsky's songs, for which they are still often compared. The main theme of Shevchuk's work is civic-patriotic lyrics, a call for moral self-improvement, rejection of violence, overcoming hatred, as well as social satire and protest.
In 1979, Yuri Shevchuk is a member of an unnamed group that rehearsed at the local recreation center "Avangard". A year later, the team received the name "DDT" and recorded a trial magnetic album. In 1982, the guys sent recordings of several songs to the competition, and the composition "Don't Shoot", written about the war in Afghanistan hidden in the Soviet Union, has a deafening resonance.
The album Compromise, recorded at an underground studio, quickly becomes popular and puts DDT on a par with the recognized St. Petersburg rock bands. Yuri Shevchuk had constant conflicts with the authorities, as they saw the songs as a way to show a protest against the current government.
With the onset of Perestroika, "DDT" became one of the cult groups of Russian rock. The songs "Boys-majors", "I got this role", "Born in the USSR", "Thaw (Leningrad)", "Actress Spring" become favorite in the country. But the loudest compositions that became Yuri Shevchuk's business cards were released already in the 90s. These are "Rain", "Last Autumn", "What is Autumn", "Agidel (White River)", "Night-Lyudmila" and others.
In 1999, the author's biography was replenished with the publication of the collection of poems "Defenders of Troy". Ten years later, he published his second book "Solnik".
In the 21st century, the composer and singer continues to actively engage in creative work. The new songs are influenced by philosophy. Yuri Shevchuk raises the question of the insignificance or greatness of a person in the world, religious motives, love of life. The studio albums of the DDT group are released with enviable regularity, and Yuri does not re-release old compositions, but constantly offers new items to the listeners, of which it is worth mentioning separately “Born this Night”, “Song of Freedom”, “This City”, “Missing.
Yuri Shevchuk also tried his hand at cinema. He participated as a cameo in projects and starred as an actor. Yuri played the main character Ivan Khristoforov in the mystical drama "Spirits of the Day", appeared in the comedy "Little Johnny", the historical melodrama "Once upon a time there was one woman" and the television series "Father", for which he wrote the soundtrack.
Yuri Shevchuk wrote music especially for films, for example, "The Geographer Drank the Globe", "Generation P", "Lord Officers", "Azazel" and others.
Personal life
Back in Ufa, Yuri Shevchuk met his first wife Elmira Bikbova. The girl at that time was only 17 years old, and she studied to be a ballerina. After the wedding, the couple had a son, Peter. At the age of 24, after a long oncological illness, Elmira died. Shevchuk dedicated the album "Actress Spring" to his suddenly deceased wife, and wrote the songs "Trouble", "Crows" and "When you were here" in memory of her.
Yuri raised his son on his own, and when the boy grew up, he entered the Kronstadt Naval Cadet Corps, served in the Marine Corps for some time, but later became a programmer.
Later, the musician became friends with the Russian actress Maryana Polteva, who gave birth to his second son Fedor in 1997. But the artists' relationship did not last too long, and now Yuri rarely sees his second child: he and his mother live in Germany.
Today Yuri Shevchuk lives with a woman named Ekaterina. It does not cover his personal life, especially since the musician's new love is a non-public person, does not communicate with journalists, but constantly accompanies her husband on tours and trips. Yuri has no children from Catherine. In a conversation with the namesake - Yuri Dude - Shevchuk said that he was happy in marriage.

The artist spends a lot of effort and money on charity, but at the same time he does it almost secretly, not talking about such actions to the press and not advertising himself at the expense of the tragedy of other people. At his own expense, he drove people who suffered in Chechnya for treatment, bought prostheses and wheelchairs, transferred earnings from concerts to a fund to help victims of the wars in Chechnya, Ossetia and Ukraine.
