Egyptian President Hosni Murabak was ousted during the Arab Spring. He had to resign at the end of his sixth term as head of state. And now the inhabitants of not only Egypt, but also many other countries are waiting with interest for an answer to the question: who will be determined by his successor and when will the final elections take place?
Instructions
Step 1
The campaign for the selection of the new president of Egypt began in April 2012 and will end at the end of June of the same year. Registration of candidates for the main post of the state will begin only after a referendum is held, the purpose of which will be to approve the country's new constitution. The main two candidates to succeed Hosni Mubarak with the largest number of votes were determined in the primary elections held on May 23-24. They are the representative of the Muslim Brotherhood Mohammed Morsi and the Prime Minister, General Ahmed Shafik. None of them got more than 50% of the votes, which means that the winner will be revealed in the second round, which is scheduled for June 16-17. And by the end of the month, the newly elected head of Egypt will be sworn in.
Step 2
As you know, the draft of the new constitution will be developed and submitted for national discussion by representatives from the People's Assembly from the lower house of parliament, as well as representatives from the Shura Council from the upper one. It should be added that the preparation and conduct of the election of Murabak's successor is handled by a specially appointed commission, but not by the central election committee. By the decision of the parliamentary committee of the People's Assembly, this Constitutional Commission received the status of a legislative structure, and its activities will be independent of any decisions of state bodies. The commission includes 100 Egyptians who are not members of parliament - this condition is fulfilled in accordance with a joint agreement between the Supreme Council of the Egyptian Armed Forces and the leading political parties.
Step 3
If the main points of the law on the election of a new contender for the post of head of Egypt are formulated in advance, this means that the general terms for holding and ending the presidential campaign will be able to withstand, since further delays in normalizing the economic and political situation in the country are very undesirable.
