Russian Post is essentially a monopoly on the postal services market in the country. Its branches operate in all large settlements - there are more than 40,000 of them. Nevertheless, since all offices, regardless of their location, are part of the same enterprise, the working hours of Russian Post branches in different cities are usually similar.
Standard operating hours of Russian Post branches
Most of the post offices located in the cities of Russia work according to a unified schedule, implying five full working days on weekdays, a "shortened" Saturday and Sunday day off.
Typically, post office hours are divided as follows:
- from Monday to Friday - from 8.00 to 20.00, lunch break from 13.00 to 14.00;
- on Saturday - from 9.00 to 18.00, lunch - as on weekdays, from 13.00 to 14.00.
However, depending on the specifics of work and the "load" of a particular post office, the schedule may be adjusted. For example, Russian Post offices operating in small settlements or sparsely populated residential areas may open an hour or two later, and end work earlier (for example, work from 9 am to 4 pm without lunch). And branches located in the center of big cities - on the contrary, work until 10 pm without a lunch break.
How does the post office work on Sunday
On Sundays, most post offices are closed, but city dwellers in most cases have the opportunity to send a parcel, parcel post or registered letter at the main post office on weekends, which usually works on a more hectic schedule - without weekends and lunch breaks.
The operating hours of the main post office, as a rule, are as follows:
- from Monday to Friday from 8 am to 10 pm,
- Saturday and Sunday from 9 am to 6 pm.
In addition, in large cities on weekends, not only the main post office can work, but also several post offices located in different districts of the city. As a rule, on Sundays they work only in the morning and without lunch, starting at 9 am and ending at 14 or 15.
In addition, in Moscow and St. Petersburg there are branches of the Russian Post, operating 24/7 - that is, around the clock, without days off and breaks. In Moscow, these are the central post office at 26 Myasnitskaya (Chistye Prudy metro station), offices at 13/21 Smolenskaya Square (Smolenskaya Square) and at 1 Uralskaya Street (Shchelkovskaya). In the Northern Capital, only the St. Petersburg Post Office at 9A Pochtamtskaya Street (Admiralteyskaya metro station) operates in this mode.
How to find out the working hours of the post office at the place of residence
In order to find out on what schedule the nearest post offices work, you can use a special service on the official website of the Russian Post.
Go to the "Offices" section (pochta.ru/offices) and enter your location data (city, street, or house number if you wish) into the search box. If you specified a specific address, you will be able to see all the information about the location and opening hours of the post office that serves your home, as well as a list of other branches located nearby.
If you click on the link indicating the current work schedule of the branch you are interested in, you can find out its work schedule for all days of the week.
In order to see which post offices in your city are open on weekends, just enter the name of the city in the search box and click the filter button “Opens on Sunday”.
And if you want to know the operating hours of the post office in order to pick up a letter or parcel addressed to you, you do not even have to look for information on the Internet. You can just take a close look at the notice you received. The address, telephone number and opening hours of the post office will be indicated on the stamp with which all notifications are “printed”.
