Sergei Bodrov is a Russian actor and director, whose biography could have become even richer if not for sudden death. Until the end of his days, he remained a charming and talented person, and after the departure of "Brother" the country instantly felt itself an orphan.
Biography of Sergei Bodrov
Sergei Bodrov Jr. was born on December 27, 1971 in the capital's family of his namesake - a famous Soviet director and his wife, who worked as an art critic. It is not surprising that from childhood, Seryozha was surrounded by a creative atmosphere. And yet the parents worked a lot, giving the boy not too much attention, but he himself did not complain: the future actor grew up very dreamy and lived, as it were, in his own world.
At school, Bodrov Jr. studied not only the exact, but also the humanities. A special bias was put in the French language, which the young man mastered perfectly. Having received his secondary education, Sergei, without hesitation, went to VGIK, remembering the instructions of his father, although he, in turn, was somewhat puzzled by the son's overly calm temperament, who was not too suitable for the acting profession. As a result, Bodrov successfully graduated from the history faculty of Moscow State University, graduating with honors. He could have become an ordinary librarian if several important acquaintances had not happened.
Filmography of Sergei Bodrov
Even in his youth, Bodrov Jr. starred in the small role of a bully in his father's film "Freedom is Paradise", released in 1989. Then, in 1996, he tried himself in another film by Bodrov Sr. "Prisoner of the Caucasus", where he played with the already famous artist Oleg Menshikov. For a long time he was amazed at such a talented play of an ordinary youth. She was warmly received by critics, thanks to which Sergei Bodrov was recognized as one of the best actors that year.
A year later, Bodrov met the growing director Alexei Balabanov, who offered him the lead role in the film "Brother". Sergei played a young guy Danila Bagrov, who is sent to St. Petersburg to his older brother, who turned out to be a professional killer. This role was as if created for Bodrov Jr.: he actually played himself - yesterday's boy with a simple and dreamy character, but firm convictions. The film is still a cult classic, and fans keep quoting quotes from it.
The talented actor began to be invited to their pictures and other directors. He played in such films as "Stringer" and "East-West", but they passed almost imperceptibly for the audience. Everyone expected Bodrov to return to the role of the national hero Danila Bagrov in the film "Brother-2". The tape was released in 2000 and became no less popular than the first part. Her shooting took place not only in Russia, but also in the United States, and the soundtrack consisted exclusively of hits of the Russian rock scene.
A year after that, Sergei Bodrov Jr. starred in the next two films of his father "Let's do it fast" and "Bear Kiss". He also appeared in the new film by Alexei Balabanov "War", the shooting in which played a sad role in his further destiny.
Director's career and death
In the early 2000s, Sergei Bodrov Jr. started writing his own script for the film, which he gave the name "Two Sisters". He personally directed the picture, inviting the starring actresses Oksana Akinshina and Ekaterina Gorina to the main roles, and also starred in a cameo role. In addition, Bodrov wrote the script for the film "Morphine" based on the works of Bulgakov. This tape was subsequently shot by Alexei Balabanov.
It was Balabanov who suggested to Sergei a place for filming his next film "Messenger" - the mountains of the North Caucasus, where Bodrov had already been during the production of the film "War". In the summer of 2002, a film crew with a young director left for the Karmadon Gorge and began work. Suddenly, the gorge was covered with a glacier that descended from Mount Dzhimara. For many months, the entire film crew was listed as missing, and rescue operations were carried out at the site of the tragedy, but it was all to no avail. In 2004, Sergei Bodrov Jr. was officially declared dead.
Personal life
Sergei Bodrov managed to build family happiness, which, unfortunately, did not last long. His only love and wife in 1997 was his colleague Svetlana Mikhailova. In marriage, a daughter, Olga, and a son, Alexander, were born. The latter was born literally before the tragedy that unfolded in the Karmadon Gorge. The widow of the deceased actor could not recover from grief and never married.
Children of Bodrov Jr. try to avoid publicity. It is known that his daughter Olga followed in her father's footsteps and entered VGIK. The son is finishing school and is only thinking about who to become in later life. The memory of their father continues to live in the hearts of thousands of Russians, and for a long time the public has been discussing the possibility of erecting a monument to the famous actor who played such unusual and memorable roles.
