Now it is enough to lightly "rub" almost every new blockbuster, and under its celluloid skin a comic book will be found. Hollywood producers decided that there were so many comics that there would be enough for TV shows and big film projects. And we have replenished the genre's piggy bank with another project - "Oblivion".

Oblivion

The first film called "Oblivion" was released in 1994. Then the venerable director Sam Irwin made a space western. It, in turn, was refreshed by Jon Favreau, who released the famous film "Cowboys vs. Aliens" based on the same plot.

Funnily enough, Oblivion by Joseph Kosinski is a completely different story. Joseph himself wrote the story of the Millennium Interplanetary Scam, drew a comic that never got published, and managed to sell the idea to Universal Pictures. The young director, who had only "Tron: Legacy" to his credit before this film, also made sure that the film was entrusted to him.

I must say that the producers were not mistaken in their choice. The film turned out to be outstanding against the background of the general stream of stamped summer blockbusters.

What do you hear from Titan?

The plot of the film is simple, even banal. The earth was attacked by other forms of life, humanity was on the defensive. Heavy weapons were used, and when they did not help, they had to resort to nuclear bombing. Xenomorphs were destroyed along with the planet and the lion's share of humanity. The remaining people built spaceships and flew to Jupiter, settling on its satellite Titan. They continued to use the earth as a source of useful resources, turning it into a large storehouse of water, metals and sources of radiation.

The production process is overseen by a watch, consisting of former military Jack Harper played by Tom Cruise and engineer Victoria (Andrea Riseborough). Before the shift, their memory was erased so that they would not tell anything superfluous to their enemies.

Jack disappears from the radar from time to time, which is typical for any man. But Harper is not looking for love on the side, he cultivates his own secret garden near a mountain lake. He also sees strange dreams from a non-existent past.

The team periodically contacts the Titan and receives instructions. Everything is going according to schedule.

A similar reference is suitable for describing many science fiction films. Nothing unusual. The first half hour.

Then the plot makes such dizzying twists and turns that it will take your breath away. And a steep dive at the very end makes a control injection of endorphin into the brain of a moviegoer.

Actors and sensations

The wonderful cast adds the right bouquet to this vibrant mix.

Olga Kurylenko, Morgan Freeman and Nikolai Coster-Waldau (Game of Thrones) not only support a couple of main characters - each of them managed to create a relief, reliable type of their hero, and thanks to them, almost all screen time, viewers' trust in the characters reaches one hundred percent.

The atmosphere in "Oblivion" is catchy with references to other films: "Solaris", "Vanilla Skies", "Luna 2112", but very gently, just after watching, thoughts come to mind that they should be reviewed too. And this, in turn, leads to the desire to revise Oblivion again.
