Monuments to animals are erected in many cities of Russia and the world. Some reflect the gratitude of people to other relatives on the planet, others recreate fairy-tale heroes, some are installed as symbols of a city or a certain place. But they all certainly attract people's attention.

Step 1
One of the most famous and touching monuments is installed in Togliatti. The loyalty monument is dedicated to a dog that has been waiting for its owners for several years in one place. According to city history, the owners of the dog crashed in a car accident, and he patiently waited for their return at the same place, not agreeing to attempts to pick him up from the street. After the death of the dog, the public of the city came up with a proposal to erect a monument to the dog, which became the symbol of the city.

Another statue, which is a symbol of the city, stands in Yaroslavl. A monument to the bear, which is also considered a symbol of the country, was erected in the historic center of the city. Interestingly, the bear sometimes "comes to life" and roars brutally, which frightens or delights the townspeople.

A graceful and noble symbol of the city - the elk - is also installed in Monchegorsk. There are moose monuments in many cities of Russia: Izhevsk, Kashin, Vyborg, Moscow and other cities. Apparently, it's all about the beauty and grace of the animal.

In St. Petersburg, a city rich in sculptures, a monument to Pavlov's dog is erected. These animals were sacrificed to science, and it was academician I. P. Pavlov at the end of his life insisted on the creation of this monument. In addition to these "scientific" dogs in St. Petersburg, there are monuments to other canine representatives: dachshund, bulldog, mongrel, Mu-mu, etc.

An interesting monument to the hippopotamus by Z. Tsereteli has been erected in Volgograd. He made all the children of this city happy, because a cute statue only one meter high is located near the "Hippopo" children's center.
