For more than a decade, climatologists have sounded the alarm in connection with a significant change in the weather in the world. More and more natural disasters occur, their consequences are more and more significant. Natural disasters have not escaped Russia either, which has faced serious climatic cataclysms in recent years.

Scientists call global warming one of the main causes of climate change. According to Roshydromet, over the past hundred years, the air temperature in Russia has risen by 1.29 ° C, while, according to the Fourth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, in general, the temperature in the world has increased by 0.74 ° C. This suggests that climate change problems for Russia may turn out to be more significant than for other countries.

The Russians themselves see that the climate is changing. Abnormal winter frosts are replaced by no less abnormal summer heat, and the difference between day and night temperatures is also growing. Unusual climatic events in Russia have even led to speculation that this is nothing more than the consequences of the US's use of climate weapons. True, no one has yet been able to provide serious evidence of this version.

Satellite observation data indicate that the area of the Arctic ice cover is steadily decreasing. On the one hand, this gives Russia certain advantages in the development of the Arctic shelf, and it becomes possible to actively use the Northern Sea Route. On the other hand, warming leads to thawing of permafrost, which turns it into impassable swamps. Climatic changes have a very large impact on agricultural production - in particular, the abnormal summer heat in 2010 led to the death of grain crops in huge areas. The grain harvest in 2010 was one of the lowest in Russia in recent years; the government was even forced to impose restrictions on its export in order not to increase the price of bread inside the country.

Tornadoes became one of the new natural disasters for Russia. So, on August 1, 2011, a tornado hit Blagoveshchensk. He raged for thirteen minutes, as a result 28 people were hospitalized, one died from his injuries. The total damage to the city's infrastructure exceeded 80 million rubles. Previously, large tornadoes in Russia were recorded only over the waters of the seas, where they could not cause significant destruction. The incident in Blagoveshchensk was the first example of a tornado passing over a large city. It should be noted that in the USA, where tornadoes are not uncommon, dozens of people die from them every year.

Climatologists warn that climatic anomalies will soon become commonplace for Russians. The number of droughts, frosts, hurricanes will only grow in the coming years. In some regions, an increase in the number of earthquakes is possible. Due to the intensification of the summer heat, the number of fires will also increase.

Scientists say that the main cause of global warming is the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere as a result of human activities. Nevertheless, there are still many ambiguities on this issue, some independent experts call human guilt in global warming a myth. In their opinion, changes in the Earth's climate are caused by natural causes, throughout the history of the planet, this has happened many times, and you just need to get used to it.
