The once popular, humorous song contained words about how good it is to be a general. However, in reality, military service is accompanied by dangers and risks to life. The fate of Vladimir Shamanov, a military general and hero of Russia, is a clear confirmation of this.

Curriculum Vitae

Anyone can become a soldier - this has been the custom since ancient times in Russia. However, not every fighter manages to reach the rank of general's shoulder straps and stripes. Vladimir Anatolyevich Shamanov was born on February 15, 1957 in an ordinary Soviet family. Parents at that time lived in Barnaul. Father Volodya practically does not remember. The mother was actively involved in sports. Repeatedly won prizes in regional competitions in cross-country skiing and track and field athletics. The child grew up and was brought up in a friendly environment. He was taught from an early age to work and accuracy.

Shamanov studied well at school. I always found a common language with classmates. On the street he did not give himself offense, but he was not considered a bully. He was actively involved in sports and preparing for military service. Vladimir always noticed how his peers live, what they dream about and what goals they set for themselves in life. Having received a certificate of maturity, he was determined to get a military education. In 1978 he graduated from the famous Airborne School in Ryazan. According to the order, he left for the place of service.

Participation in hostilities

The general's biography dryly lists the positions and places where he had to demonstrate the skills of military art. Judging by the responses of fellow soldiers and comrades, Lieutenant Shamanov served not for fear, but for conscience. In all positions, the commander demonstrated the highest professionalism, quickly navigated the operational situation, and took care of the preservation of personnel. The officer's career was uneven. He several times "stepped over" the steps of the career ladder.

In the spring of 1995, Shamanov was appointed commander of the unit and sent to the Caucasus. Much has been shown and written about the military operations in Chechnya. In this context, it should be noted that for Vladimir Anatolyevich it was hard and responsible work. During the hostilities, then Colonel Shamanov was seriously wounded. He refused hospitalization and continued to supervise the operation. Some committed journalists tried to accuse him of being too harsh and even cruel. But the Chechens themselves respect him.

Private side

In 2000, the general's service expired. Shamanov thought about his future. It was at this time that he was offered to run for the post of governor. Proposals came from three subjects of the federation. Vladimir Anatolyevich chose the Ulyanovsk region. For four years he served as the head of the region. But the main task was to bring the region out of the depressive state. In 2007, Shamanov was returned to duty. Five years later, he was appointed commander of the Airborne Forces.

It is enough to write three lines about the personal life of a professional paratrooper. Shamanov has been married since 1979. The husband and wife signed after the cadet received the lieutenant's shoulder straps. Love and mutual respect reign in the house. Two children. The son is engaged in science. The daughter is fond of creativity in the design of women's clothing.
