During the Soviet era, almost all schoolchildren became first Octobrists, then pioneers and Komsomol members. The October Revolution wore a badge on their chest - a red star with a portrait of Volodya Ulyanov in the middle. And they tried to follow the rules of the Octobrists.
The future pioneers, the youngest Leninists, were called October Revolutions in the USSR. They had to bear this honorary title with dignity - to follow the rules of the Octobrists: study diligently, love work, help elders. Be honest, courageous, dexterous and skillful. And also funny and friendly.
In honor of the great revolution
The October Revolution appeared back in 1923. Then, under the pioneer detachments, groups of children of workers and peasants were formed. They were called differently everywhere. In Siberia there were red poppies, in the Caucasus - bouquets, flowers and gardens, in Odessa - red grains. In Moscow in honor of the victory of the Great October Revolution - October. The last name stuck and became the official one.
An example for everyone
The October Revolutions were united in stars of five people. Each star had a counselor - a pioneer or Komsomol member who helped organize the work, and his assistant was the leader of the star. The rest of the Octobrists also had their own positions - a nurse, a florist, a librarian or a sportsman.
The orderly kept his hands clean, checked for a handkerchief, and ventilated the classroom. He wore a white bandage with a red cross on his arm. The florist watered the flowers, took them home for the summer holidays. The sportsman organized outdoor games during recess, taught him to do morning exercises, and went in for sports himself. The librarian was responsible for the respect for textbooks, for regular visits to the school library.
Not everyone could become an Octobrist. I had to study well and be disciplined. First, the Octobrists learned the rules. So that the children would quickly remember them, they rhymed. For example: "Only those who love work are called October".
Cherished asterisk
The reception was usually held on the eve of November 7, at a ceremonial meeting at a school or a pioneer palace. The hall was decorated with banners and flags. A portrait of Lenin always hung on the wall.
Joyful and proud, in open coats, the newly-made october walked home. There was a badge on the chest - a five-pointed star with a portrait of Volodya Ulyanov in the middle. Some people still keep them.
Now i'm an october
The first grader understood, now he is not just a student, he is an Octobrist. And he is responsible not only for himself, but also for his fellow stars.
It was a fun game for children. As adults, they held meetings, assigned responsibilities. And at the same time they studied friendship, collectivism, mutual assistance, and spent their free time with benefit. The Octobrists had their own printed editions - the magazines Vesyolye Kartinki and Murzilka.
