Winter sports have always been popular on Russian territory. Skis, ice skates and sleds were available in every home. Dmitry Dubrovsky learned to ski at a preschool age.
Sports childhood
Active physical education and sports in childhood, create the basis for success in sports. This message has been around for many years and serves as a guide for coaches and officials. Dmitry Eduardovich Dubrovsky was born on July 5, 1974 in an ordinary Soviet family. It should be added that on the same day his twin brother named Stanislav was born. Parents at that time lived in Leningrad. My father was engaged in coaching work in the city branch of the famous sports society "Dynamo". Mother taught biology at school.
According to Dmitry himself, he and his brother got on skis before they learned to walk. There is some truth in this joke. Boys from a young age were brought up in a healthy lifestyle. In the summer we spent a lot of time in nature. In winter, we regularly went to the skating rink and went skiing in the park. Not to say that Dubrovsky was noticeably distinguished by his physical data among his peers. However, in cross-country skiing he showed quite decent results. After school, he deliberately decided to enter the Institute of Physical Education and receive a specialized education.
Organizational activity
Dmitry Dubrovsky's sports career was very mediocre. Having received a certificate of maturity, he studied at the Olympic reserve school for two years. In 1994, he and his brother were enrolled in the Russian national team. The Winter Olympics were held in the Norwegian city of Lillehammer. In the overall standings, Dubrovsky took 47th place. It was an outright failure of the Russian team. After this failure, the athlete gave up skiing and went into business. However, after a while I decided to return to a familiar and beloved environment, but already as a coach.
At that time, the system of training skiers was fundamentally unbalanced. New sports complexes operated in Sochi, Tagil, Tchaikovsky. But there are no sports schools in these cities. On the other hand, in Krasnoyarsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Ufa, time-tested ski training schools operate, but there are no sports facilities. Dubrovsky carried out a comprehensive analysis of the current situation and formulated his proposals. Gradually, the situation began to improve.
Recognition and privacy
Creativity and purposeful actions of Dubrovsky brought positive results. In the summer of 2014, he was elected chairman of the Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined Federation of Russia. By the 2018 season, Russian ski jumpers began to improve their performance. The personal life of a sports official is of no interest to the yellow press. Dubrovsky lives legally. The husband and wife are raising a daughter.
