Alexander Dubrovsky is a modern Ukrainian artist whose creative works are closely related to nature. Depicting the fields, forests, meadows and simple villages of his native Ukraine, Dubrovsky emphasizes the connection between man and the world. Works in creative plein air allowed the master to master various painting techniques.
Biography
Alexander Alekseevich Dubrovsky was born in 1949 in the town of Orynino, Khmelnitsky region, Ukraine. Even in his early school years, the boy began to show interest in painting. And his parents sent him to study at an art studio in Yenakiyevo, Donetsk region, where his family lived. Alexander studied in the studio from 1956 to 1965. It was there that the future artist acquired the basic knowledge and skills of painting.
After graduating from the studio, the young artist firmly decided to connect his life with creativity and entered the Kharkov State Art School on the course of the teacher K. A. Tanpeter, a student of the famous professor A. A. Kokel. Alexander Dubrovsky successfully graduated from college in 1969 and received a corresponding profession.
The young artist actively went to creative plein-airs, working with such famous artists in the world of painting as F. Zakharov, V. Shatalin, K. Lomykin, N. Glushchenko, T. Yablonskaya. It was such works that allowed him to adopt the invaluable experience of outstanding artists. Due to this, the manifestations of high professionalism could be seen quite quickly in the works of Dubrovsky.
The masters' lessons allowed him to master various painting techniques, both monumental and easel. The artist still paints in both techniques.
The work of the artist in the Soviet period
After training, the artist faced a long work to improve his writing, in parallel with trains throughout the country. In the period from 1976 to 1985, Alexander Dubrovsky made long-term creative trips to construction sites in the Far East, metallurgical plants, and the Druzhba gas pipeline. On each trip, he painted pictures telling about the work of ordinary workers, sometimes engaged in hard physical labor.
Dubrovsky's works so accurately convey the nature and complexity of labor that they have always been highly appreciated by eminent masters. It is not surprising that paintings of this period were repeatedly presented at prestigious art exhibitions in various cities of the Soviet Union.
In particular, one of the thematic paintings of that period of the artist's work - "12-pump" is currently on display in the Art Museum of the city of Horlivka in the Donetsk region.
Since the 70s of the last century, the works of Alexander Dubrovsky have regularly participated in solo and group, all-Union and republican exhibitions of Ukraine and the entire Soviet Union. Many of his works were exported abroad.
Foreign stage of the artist's work
The artist also managed to improve his skills abroad. In the period from 1985 to 1993, Dubrovsky often traveled abroad. As a result of his creative work in other countries, several foreign exhibitions were organized at once, for example, personal exhibitions in Algeria. Separately, it should be noted the exhibition of artists of the St. Petersburg School of Painting in the French Gallery ARCOLE in Paris in 1992.
In the homeland of the artist, in Ukraine, demonstrations of his works were regularly arranged. In particular, the National Museum of Russian Art in Kiev in 2009 organized the Jubilee exhibition of plein air painting "By the Roads of Vasilkovsky: a look through the centuries".
Alexander Dubrovsky in 1987 was recognized as a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine. It was an important turning point in the artist's career, placing him among the famous names not only throughout the Soviet Union, but also abroad.
In addition to paintings written during the Soviet period, a large collection of contemporary paintings by the artist can be seen in the Art Gallery Museum in the Golitsyn Palace, located in Trostyanets, Sumy region, Ukraine. A lot of paintings are in private collections, both in Ukraine and abroad.
Among the works of Alexander Dubrovsky, one can separately note the work in the period 1995-2004 in Alexandria, Egypt. In the newly rebuilt Cathedral of St. Mina, he personally created mosaic panels, a dome, ornaments and naves: "The Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem", "Prayer for the Chalice", "Flight into Egypt", "Crossing the Red Sea", "Good Shepherd".

On October 14, 2018, in the town of Trostyanets, Sumy region, Ukraine, near the estate of L. Koenig, an art exhibition and the ceremonial closing of the 11th Art Plein Air "Malyovnich Trostyanetschina - 2018" was launched. All those present could see the last works of the artist.
