Humanity accumulates knowledge and tries to use it for its own benefit. Although often new information does more harm than good. Igor Semenovich Kon became one of the first specialists in sociology.
Difficult childhood
The rapid development of science has generated many interesting effects. In addition to the usual branches of knowledge - philosophy, history and economics - new ones began to appear. Sociology began to be talked about "out loud" in the early 1950s. Igor Kon took the risk of writing an article on this topic and giving a lecture to students. In those days, it was a risky step. The future sociologist and anthropologist was born on May 21, 1928 in an incomplete family. Parents at that time lived in Leningrad. The father came to visit his son and see how the child develops once a week. Mother worked as a nurse, and only spent the night at home.
According to the memoirs of Igor Semenovich, early childhood was calm and cloudless. Trials and difficulties began in the war. The child, together with his mother, went to evacuation. Refugees from Leningrad were placed in Naberezhnye Chelny. At school, the boy studied only excellently. When he was fifteen, Cohn passed his tenth grade exams as an external student. He received a certificate of maturity and entered the history department of the local pedagogical institute. After lifting the blockade, the family returned to the city on the Neva. Igor continued to receive higher education at the Leningrad Institute.
Scientific activity
When Kon was nineteen years old, he received his degree in history and entered graduate school. More precisely, in graduate school in two areas - history and philosophy. A scientist with a wide range of interests also worked on a third dissertation on legal consciousness, but refused to defend it on the advice of his senior comrades. In 1950, the candidate of historical and philosophical sciences was sent to the Vologda Pedagogical Institute for permanent residence and work. Two years later he returned to Leningrad, because of his failing health.
For several years, the famous scientist lectured and conducted seminars at the Philosophy Faculty of Leningrad State University. His fresh views on the subject evoked a lively response from the student audience. Igor Semenovich's creativity was appreciated. In the late 1960s, he was invited to do research at the Institute of Sociology at the USSR Academy of Sciences. The teacher and scientist are doing their favorite thing. In 1985, when perestroika began in the country, Kon moved to Moscow. From here he was sent for an internship at Harvard University in the United States.
Recognition and privacy
Upon his return from a long trip abroad, Kon was elected a full member of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences in the department of "psychology". By this time, he had already published a series of articles and published several books on sexology. Not everyone in the scientific community reacted to the coverage of this topic with understanding.
Igor Semenovich preferred not to talk about his personal life. In his youth, he had a wife, but the family hearth did not work out. Kon passed away in April 2011.
