Biography

Ella Pamfilova was born in 1953 in the Uzbek settlement of Almalyk in the Tashkent region. She was brought up in a working class family. Parents had to work hard, which is why grandfather spent a lot of time with Ella. At school, the future woman politician was an excellent student and an activist. After graduating with a medal, Ella went to the capital to enter the capital state university. The girl was refused admission, but she was gladly admitted to the energy institute, where she studied to be a technical engineer.

Ella Aleksandrovna started her career at the Mosenergo repair and mechanical plant. She managed to reach the position of a process engineer and eventually became the head of the trade union committee. With this status, the woman also entered the Supreme Council of Trade Unions in the late 1980s. Immediately after the collapse of the USSR, Boris Yeltsin personally invited her to the cabinet of ministers, where Pamfilova took the post of Minister for Social Protection of the Population of Russia. In addition, she became the head of the For a Healthy Russia movement.

Ella Pamfilova retained her post until 2000, having managed to become the first woman politician in the country to apply for the post of President of the Russian Federation and became one of the candidates in the elections. The victory was won by Vladimir Putin, and Ella Alexandrovna continued to deal with human rights issues. In 2002, she also headed the Civil Society for the Children of Russia association. In March 2016, Ella Pamfilova moved to work at the Central Election Commission, as its chairman, she began to prepare for the new presidential elections. The social and political event was successfully held in March 2018.

Personal life

While studying at the Energy Institute, Ella Pamfilova met her future husband Nikita, who was a military man. They met for some time, after which they got married in 1976 and together went to the Taman Peninsula - the next place of service of a promising military man. After returning to Moscow in 1980, the couple had a daughter, Tatyana.

The marriage of a famous politician and a military man lasted more than 17 years, but eventually fell apart. Probably, the high employment of both spouses worsened their relationship with each other. After that, Ella Pamfilova did not marry anymore and completely focused on her career. She is currently raising a granddaughter, donated by her only daughter.

Ella Pamfilova is a fairly wealthy politician, having declared an income of 30 million rubles in 2017. According to the woman, in addition to the state salary, she managed to earn such a significant amount thanks to several real estate transactions.
