Personalities on a planetary scale are born infrequently. Fidel Castro is such a person. Songs of praise were composed about him. Curses and poison-soaked cigars were sent to him. He will forever remain a role model for those young people who decided to get involved in politics.

Starting conditions

Fidel Castro's biographers do not miss an opportunity to draw attention to the contradictory vectors of the revolutionary's development. The leader of the Cuban revolution was born on August 13, 1926 in the family of a wealthy landowner. His father owned land in the province of Oriente on the island of Cuba. With his mind and hands, he managed to achieve a worthy position in society. His mother, a simple peasant woman, served him for a long time. And only after she gave birth to five children, the owner decided to marry her. In fact, the child appeared in a bourgeois family and did not know the need that rural workers lived in.

In childhood, Fidel closely communicated with peers who lived much poorer than he. The boy studied well at school. Castro stood out among his classmates with a phenomenal memory. Already in adolescence, he manifested a revolutionary type of consciousness. When Fidel was 14 years old, he took an active part in the uprising, which was raised by agricultural workers on the lands of his father. People with scanty consciousness have not been able to understand this desire for justice.

Revolutionary activity

After graduating from high school, Fidel entered the law faculty of the University of Havana. He graduated in 1950 and went into private practice. He provided legal aid to poor people who were harassed by corrupt officials and sugarcane plantation owners. In a short period of time, Castro gained popularity in Cuba as a people's advocate. It is not surprising that it was he who led the armed struggle against the dictator Batista, who was considered a puppet of the United States of America. After an unsuccessful uprising, the leader of the revolutionary movement spent almost two years in prison.

After his release, Castro continued to fight to overthrow capitalism. In January 1959, the rebels came to power in Cuba under his leadership. The US government did not like this turn of events. Only a few years later, having overcome the crisis of the transition period, Fidel began to build socialism in the state. Cuba experienced a rapid economic recovery. Medical care has become free. Access to quality education has been opened for all segments of the population. Cuba, the Island of Freedom, as it was called in Russia, has turned into a prosperous country.

The last years of life and struggle

Over time, Fidel Castro became a prominent political figure on a global scale. In the struggle for leadership on the planet between the United States and the USSR, he took the side of the Soviet Union. After the destruction of the socialist camp, the situation in Cuba deteriorated significantly. The permanent leader has aged and retired. He passed away in November 2016 after a serious and prolonged illness.
