Every baptized person who went through the holy rite of baptism in the church has his own heavenly patron - a saint who is a prayer and intercessor with God.
Instructions
Step 1
Previously, the baby was given a name in the church on the eighth day, according to the church calendar. However, now parents are planning the name of the child long before his birth. The baby is baptized under a name that corresponds to the name of the saint revered on that day. If the name is not in the Christmastide, choose the most suitable sonorous name. For example, for the name Agatha, the name Agafya is consonant.
Step 2
The name of the child is taken into account when determining the patron saint. For example, if your son's name is Alexander, then his patron saint is Saint Alexander. To find out which particular saint Alexander is, choose the saint closest to the birthday of the child, or more famous, traditionally revered in your family.
Mothers, after identifying a saint, it is advisable to buy and bless such icons for their children. Find information or ask the church about these saints and tell your children in detail. Explain that they will refer to them in prayer.
Step 3
The day of the church memory of the saint whose name the person bears is the day of the Angel. Usually, the day of the memory of the saint whose name the Christian bears, following the birthday, is considered the day of the Angel. Take the church calendar and see when the day of remembrance of the saint with the same name, immediately after the date of birth, is celebrated. This saint will be the heavenly patron of man, and the day of his memory will be the day of the Angel.
Step 4
Angel Day is the day of the Guardian Angel of a person, given at baptism, and name day is the day of celebration of the memory of the saint whose name the person bears. Based on this, name days are celebrated on the day of remembrance of the patron saint, and the day of the Angel is celebrated on the day of baptism.
