Many believers strive to get to this temple, because it is located in the heart of the country. The Cathedral of Christ the Savior is considered the largest Cathedral of the Russian Orthodox Church, as it can accommodate up to ten thousand parishioners at a time. Anyone can get into it for the liturgy or order an excursion.
Instructions
Step 1
The Cathedral of Christ the Savior is an architectural complex, which includes the Transfiguration Church, the chapel of the Reigning Icon of the Mother of God, the stylobate part, and the museum. Not all services are held in the church itself. For example, in the chapel on Wednesdays at 17.00 and on Sundays at 14.00 the akathist to the Most Holy Theotokos is performed. The Transfiguration Church is a functioning temple. It hosts daily services on weekdays, as well as the sacraments of weddings, baptisms, dirges and prayers with blessing of water.
Step 2
Divine liturgies on the days of Great Feasts and on Sundays, as well as all-night vigils on Sunday, are celebrated directly in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. A detailed schedule of services that take place in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior and in the Church of the Transfiguration for the next month can be found on the official website of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. Or call (495) 637-12-76.
Step 3
According to the information published on the official website of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, the doors of the temple are open every day from 10.00 to 17.00. On Mondays, it works from 13.00. For liturgy, confession, Vespers or Matins, you can come to the Transfiguration Church, which is open daily from 8.00 to 19.30. If there is a divine service in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, the Transfiguration Church is always closed. The Cathedral of Christ the Savior is located at st. Volokhonka, 15. You can get to it by metro (station "Kropotkinskaya").
Step 4
You can go to the temple on an excursion through the tour desk, which is located near the entrance to the Savior Transfiguration Church (from the side of Soymonovsky passage). The museum of the temple can be visited on any day, even on a holiday, from 10.00 to 18.00. You can enter the museum for free, but the excursions themselves are paid and are conducted in groups of two or more people. You can clarify the information by calling the museum (495) 637-13-21.
