Jack the ripper

Jack the Ripper is one of the most famous serial killers in the world, he is interesting also because his identity has not been established. Jack the Ripper operated in London at the end of the 19th century, killing cheap prostitutes from the slums of the English capital. As the number of casualties increased, so did the confidence that it was one person acting. Experienced detectives of Scotland Yard were engaged in the investigation of the case, but the criminal was never caught, despite numerous letters that came to the address of the London police, allegedly on behalf of the maniac.

Subsequently, one of the letters was subjected to careful analysis, which showed that the author was most likely a woman.

Among the suspects in the murders under the pseudonym Jack the Ripper were the grandson of Queen Victoria Albert Victor, the mentally ill man Aaron Kasinsky (who turned out to be only a follower of the Ripper), the wife of the royal physician Elizabeth Williams, criminals George Chapman, Thomas Cream, William Henry Bury.

Jack the Ripper's crimes have received great publicity not only in England, but all over the world. This maniac has become one of the most famous in the whole world, and the story of his murders has been used more than once in world cinema and literature.

Mark Chapman

Some murderers become famous not for the number of crimes and their cruelty, but for the fact that famous people became their victims. So, Mark David Chapman became famous all over the world when he shot John Lennon. It happened on the street when the talented musician and his wife were returning home from the recording studio. Chapman called out to Lennon, and when he turned around, shot him several times. He was not going to hide from the crime scene - he sat down and began to read the book until the police arrived. The killer said that in this way he only wanted to become famous and assert himself, and he really achieved the first goal. The court sentenced him to life in a maximum security prison, where he is still being held.

All requests for clemency that Chapman makes are rejected and cause great public outrage.

Andrey Chikatilo

Andrei Chikatilo is the most famous Soviet maniac, on whose account more than fifty proven murders, possibly many more unproven crimes. Chikatilo was called "Soviet Jack the Ripper", "Satan", "Killer from the forest belt." Several dozen boys and girls of various ages and eighteen young girls and women became victims of this man, while the murders were committed with sexual violence.

For the first time, Chikatilo was arrested in 1984, but the blood group tests were carried out incorrectly, and he was released. Nevertheless, he continued his crimes, the scale of which forced the police to organize one of the largest operational measures called "Lesopolos". Chikatilo was a vigilante and he himself took part in this operation. Only in 1990, he was arrested a second time, proved guilty of 52 murders and sentenced to death. In 1994, the maniac was executed.
