If you are planning a vacation abroad or want to visit relatives in the near abroad, you cannot do without a passport. Even if you are officially unemployed, the procedure for obtaining a passport is almost the same as for a working citizen.

Step 1
Determine if you need an old-style passport or a biometric passport. Check if a biometric passport is issued by your FMS. Check the list of documents required in these cases.
Step 2
Fill out the application form in 2 copies on a computer or typewriter. Or write by hand, and then specify, when submitting documents, who provides services for the registration of the questionnaire. As a rule, for an additional fee, you will be printed a statement, or told where to do it. Or use the state service portal to apply for a passport (but remember that you can use the Internet only when applying, you must bring all other documents in person).
Step 3
Indicate your full name in the application form, and if you changed them, then indicate the date and place of the change of personal data. If you have not changed, so indicate in the questionnaire - “I have not changed (a)”. Indicate your place of birth in the same way as it is written in your passport. List in the fifth paragraph all the data about the place of residence, including the postal code and home telephone number. In the paragraph on the purpose of obtaining a passport, indicate - "For temporary trips abroad." Fill in the fields with information about work and study for the last 10 years. time you temporarily did not work. Since at the moment you officially do not work anywhere, indicate in the questionnaire that you are temporarily not working. If you do not have a work book at all, then you need to submit documents to the FMS, and not to passport office Unlike working citizens, you do not need to certify the application form at work.
Step 4
When answering the questionnaire, write only reliable information, otherwise you may be denied a passport.
Step 5
Sign the form. If you are a student and you do not have a work book yet, then certify the application form in the dean's office. Pay the state fee.
Step 6
Submit all documents to the passport office at your place of residence or to the Federal Migration Service. Come on time and get your passport. Do not forget to bring your internal passport and your old foreign passport if it has not expired yet. If your passport has expired, but there are still valid visas in it, write a statement asking you not to withdraw your passport.
