The future high jumper was born on October 9, 1986 in an ordinary Soviet family. Parents at that time lived in the famous city of Leningrad. My father worked at the Kirov plant. Mother worked as a kindergarten teacher. The girl grew up obedient and neat. Already at a junior school age, she began to engage in athletics with her friends. In competitions between parallel classes, Irina ran the fastest distance of 60 meters, and jumped the highest. A promising schoolgirl was invited to attend the athletics section.
Sports achivments
At the school Olympics, Gordeeva consistently took first place in high jump. When the young athlete turned fifteen, she was enrolled in the St. Petersburg national team. Irina went to study at the city school of the Olympic reserve. Within the walls of this educational institution, she was trained according to a special program of general physical training. She mastered the technique of jumping. In parallel with this, she received a general secondary education. She regularly took part in regional and all-Russian competitions. In 2005, the athlete was enrolled in the Russian national team.
In qualifying competitions, which are held before major tournaments, Gordeeva regularly took fourth or fifth position. At the 2012 Olympic Games, which were held in London, Irina rounded out the top ten. In the same year, she won a bronze medal at the European Championship in Helsinki. Gordeeva's sports career was developing satisfactorily. She could not break into the number of record holders, while she did not fall below her personal indicators. In 2016, at the Russian Championship, Irina won a gold medal.
Prospects and personal life
After the doping scandal, many Russian athletes were suspended from international competitions. Gordeeva was also included in these lists. In 2017, she was allowed to perform under a neutral flag.
The personal life of the athlete has developed well. In 2016, she married Ivan Ukhov. Husband and wife are engaged in the same sport. There are no children in the family yet.
