The very first dudes appeared immediately after the war, when they began to bring trophy goods to the USSR, and foreign films began to be shown on television. Young people in those years dressed the same and boringly. Therefore, it is not surprising that guys and girls began to copy the appearance and demeanor of movie characters, trying to dress brightly and extraordinary.
How did the guys dress
The guys were called dudes. This acronym stands for Human Respect for High American Culture.
Originally a dude from the 50s. looked pretty funny. He wore incredibly wide, colorful pants, baggy jackets, ridiculously striking socks and Jungle Fire ties.
However, soon changes took place in the appearance of the dandies, which created the image that is now considered to be classic. There were pipes-pipes, among the dudes called truzers. They could still be bright, but more often they were still dark in color. The set included a shirt of "Hawaiian" colors and a jacket in a bright large cage - jackets. The trousers had to end above the ankles in order to demonstrate the unimaginable color of socks - socks. The ties were still bright, but narrow and tied in a miniature knot. A little later, a cowboy neckerchief - taekas - made a worthy competition for the tie.
Stylish shoes deserve a special mention. Shoes (shoes) with high rubber soles, which were called "semolina", were considered very fashionable.
A felt trench coat - a coat - was considered a special chic and a sign of wealth.
The look was completed by a hairstyle - a cook carefully embedded in sugar syrup. A guy could appear at a party with a regular hairstyle, but then he always wore a hat - a hat.
How the girls dressed
Stylish girls wore dresses made of the brightest fabrics: polka-dot, floral, small or large. They sewed dresses based on pictures from European magazines. In their wardrobe were tight skirts just above the knee with slits, blouses with a deep neckline, colorful dresses with fluffy skirts. All things were bright and extravagant.
Gloves were considered an obligatory accessory - long or short, black or red.
And dresses with a floral print definitely had to be complemented by a small green handbag and a scarlet ribbon in her hair. This ribbon not only complemented the stylish look, but also kept the complex hairstyle. In those years, the hairstyles "the corolla of the world" and "babette" were popular. If the girl wore loose curls, then her hair should have been decorated with a tiny pill-hat.
Every self-respecting dandy girl wore stockings. Their colors could be from dark purple to bright yellow, and the stockings themselves could be in a large or fine mesh or with a pattern.
Shoes were an important part of the toilet. The most fashionable were lacquer pumps with elongated toes and high heels.
Speaking about the beautiful half of humanity, one cannot ignore the issue of makeup. Fashionable girl of the 50-60s. painted very brightly. Scarlet lipstick and nail polish were a must. Eye makeup included bold eyeliners, highly saturated eye shadows, and thick mascara.
And of course, the dandy girls wore jewelry. These were large plastic bracelets, colored glass necklaces and unthinkable brooches.
