In childhood and even at a more conscious age, everyone has a question why people of the desert prefer to wear thick, warm, closed clothes under the scorching sun. It would seem that open clothes should be more suitable for hot weather. However, things are not so simple.
Wisdom of the desert dwellers
Quite often you can see in documentaries and feature films the inhabitants of the desert, wrapped from head to toe in dense fabric. At the same time, outwardly they are quite comfortable and not hot. Usually they also drink hot tea, which also does not correspond to our idea of correct and comfortable behavior in the heat.
The thing is that dense clothing retains life-giving moisture on the skin, preventing it from drying out, the secreted by the body will then remain inside a robe or other warm clothing, without going anywhere. In addition, such clothing protects a person from heatstroke, not allowing the person's body to come into contact with the hot air. In fact, warm clothing acts as an additional thermoregulatory agent in the heat.
A thick robe and a hat (for example, Uzbek) keep the pressure, pulse and temperature of its wearer at the normal level. Basically, the only thing to do in this robe is to drink enough fluid to keep your body hydrated. Hot tea is preferable because it stimulates perspiration, which also cools the body.
Do you need to wear more clothes in the summer?
As for the usual lightweight clothing, its main disadvantage is the lack of protection for the skin. The skin in such a situation dries up, does not cool naturally with the help of perspiration, hot air negatively affects the human body. If you are not careful enough, it is easy to burn out in light clothing, get sunburn or even a banal heat stroke. And if you additionally block the sweat glands with deodorant, so that the body simply will not be able to produce it in the traditional way and cool the skin surface, getting rid of excess heat, nothing good will come of wearing overly open clothes.
Linen has the ability to stay cool even in the hottest rays of the sun, so there is simply no better fabric for summer clothes. But it must be borne in mind that flax wrinkles very much.
If you wear open clothes and drink ice-cold water, the body contradicts the surrounding space. The reaction of the vessels to such actions may be inadequate, which may cause general discomfort. Plus, it's very easy to catch a cold after drinking a lot of cold water on a hot day.
Don't wear dark colors in summer. It heats up too quickly in the sun.
Of course, it is not necessary to wrap yourself up in bathrobes, which, despite their usefulness, can hardly be called fashionable clothes, but you can change miniskirts and T-shirts for long linen or cotton dresses and skirts, change sweat-blocking agents for those that remove unpleasant odors … In this kind of outfit, dealing with the terrifying heat is much easier.
