The fate of Rosa was predetermined, her mother wanted to marry her to the rich young industrialist Caledon. Do not think that the mother wanted her daughter in harm, this was the case - after the death of Rosa's father, the material well-being of their family was in a precarious position, and this marriage of convenience was supposed to be salvation. But Rosa did not love the young man and even felt contempt and disgust for him, therefore, considering her situation hopeless, she decided to commit suicide. But Jack did not allow her to do what she had planned - he saved her from a fatal jump. The crew members and groom Caledon came running to the screams. After getting to know each other, Jack was invited to a first-class dinner party.

During dinner, Rose and Jack look closely at each other, and the first sympathy slips between them.
