Stephen Jones is a renowned anthology creator, writer, critic, horror expert, and television producer. The versatility of Steve's personality, as he often subscribes, is called a phenomenon by many. Everything Jones takes turns into awards and money. He has won several dozen awards in various fields.
Early period
Stephen Jones was born in 1953 in the Pimlico area (London). It is there that the main events of Lovecraft's novel "The horror in the museum" take place. Steve learned to read early. I almost never parted with books. He was especially attracted by literature in the style of fantasy, horror. He also loved comics.
In 1967 he began to collect a collection of books - the best examples of the horror genre.
Creation
When Jones turned 18, he officially registered with the Fantasy Society of Great Britain. Then Stephen began compiling collections and anthologies. I could sit at this business from early morning until late at night, without rest. The first serious experience was the preparation of magazines, issues of the newsletter of the community.
Later, with the assistance of David Sutton, Steve began publishing Fantasy Tales. The first issue went to print in 1977. There were 17 issues in total. The work has won seven British awards, as well as the "World Fantasy Award".
Steve has always considered writing books, creating magazines as a creative hobby and an opportunity to improve his education.
Career
1986 became a landmark in Jones' career. The book lover went for an interview with John Carpenter, who directed the movie Big Trouble in Little China. He asked if Stephen had any plans to move to Hollywood. He replied that he was afraid of competition. Then the venerable director recommended trying his hand as a PR specialist in the film industry.
Jones decided to gain experience in this area during the film adaptation of the story "Hellraiser", the authorship of which belonged to his friend Clive Barker. He took up the work free of charge.
Later there was a participation in the convention of the British Fantasy Society, where Steve was offered to prepare a collection of the best stories, published in different years in the famous magazine "Fantasy Tales". Jones signed a contract with Nick Robinson.
In 1988, "The best horror from fantasy tales" was presented in London, praising Jones's contribution to the development of a professional anthology. This was another impetus for the development of Steven Johnson's career.
He began to actively work on various paintings, published several dozen books. Later he admitted that he was pleased with each of his fruits of labor, especially those that were created together with the writer Kim Newman. Personal life
Stephen Jones still devotes a significant part of his time to horror. In his free hours he is engaged in cooking, gardening.
