English actor Stephen Campbell Moore is best known for his roles in Alan Bennett's play History Lovers (2006) and in a film based on that play. It is interesting that all the roles in the film were played by the actors who were involved in the performance.
Biography
The future actor was born in the capital of Great Britain in 1979. There he spent his childhood, and there he studied at school. The second educational institution where Stephen received his acting education was the School of Music and Drama in Guildhall, where the famous Orlando Bloom also gnawed at the granite of science. Stephen graduated from this school with a gold medal. During his studies, he repeatedly performed at the Pendley Open Air Shakespeare Festival.
Actor's career
In film, Moore made his film debut in Stephen Fry's film Golden Youth (2003), where he played the role of Adam. It was here about the thirties of the twentieth century, when people were just beginning to understand what fashion and style are, how to relax and have fun. Young people did this with brilliance, sometimes getting into unpleasant situations because of this. The hero Stephen was thrown out of the fire and into the fire, so the actor had to play either a happy rich heir, or an unhappy young man killed by his life. The role he came out brilliantly, as evidenced by the reviews of the audience.
When the actors played History Lovers based on the play by Alan Bennett, they toured from city to city - they had a chance to show it on Broadway, Sydney, Wellington and Hong Kong. At the same time, it was rather difficult to play the hero of Moore, because two-thirds of the performance the audience has a frank dislike of him. However, the play was such a success that in 2006 director Nicholas Heitner decided to film it.
And for his role in the Broadway production of History Lovers in 2006, Stephen Moore was nominated for the Drama Desk Award - a prestigious American award.
Since then, Steven has been moving from theater to film and back again, because he likes both genres of art. In his portfolio there are already more than fifty film roles, and he plans to shoot in new films.
In 2004, Stephen was waiting for two interesting roles at once. He played the role of Lord Darlington in The Good Woman, opposite Scarlett Johansson. He also created the character of Hugh Stanbury in the TV series He Knew So (2004).
The best films in his portfolio are Baker Street Robbery (2008), The Good Woman (2004), History Lovers (2006), Downton Abbey (2019), Amazing Lightness (2006).
Best TV Shows: Ben-Hur (2010), Thorns Sonya (2010), Sea Wolf (2009), At Gunpoint (2012), A Little Light in Candleford (2008-2011).
One of the last theatrical works of the actor was the role of Maurice Wilkins in Anna Ziegler's play "Photo 51". The theater critic Michael Billington wrote about her that this play is practically a show of one actor, and Stephen Campbell Moore perfectly captures the stubbornness and awkwardness of Maurice Wilkins, making the action very interesting.
Personal life
The actor met his future wife, actress Claire Foy, during the filming of The Time of the Witches (2010). The actors got married, and soon they had a daughter, who was named Ivy Rose. Unfortunately, the couple broke up in 2018.
