Childhood and youth
Long-term practice shows that it is very difficult for a person to understand the laws of nature. Especially when it comes to genetic inheritance. Brilliant parents easily have children with mediocre intelligence. And vice versa, professors and academicians grow up in a peasant house. Robert Lenz was born on December 12, 1964 in a family of engineers and technicians. Father and mother graduated from the famous Moscow Oil Institute in 1957 and received the specialty of geophysicists. All their adult life they were engaged in seismic exploration of new oil and gas fields.
Robert grew up and was brought up like many Soviet children, mostly on the street. No, he was never considered a bully. However, the courtyard boys treated him with respect. The boy had an ear for music from an early age. When the child was seven years old, Robert went to a comprehensive school and a music school. It fell to him to master the technique of playing the violin. The future musician studied well at school. I did well in all subjects. He was actively involved in sports. Since the area of residence was near the Khimki reservoir, Robert became interested in water skiing. He even fulfilled the standards of a candidate for master of sports.
Lenz's main hobby was music. Like many young people of that chronological period, he was bald and fell into ecstasy from the English-language compositions. Robert, according to him, will forever remain a fan of the group "Led Zeppelin". At the same time, he participated in amateur art shows. In high school, he played in the school vocal and instrumental ensemble. Often he performed as a duet with his aunt, who was only four years older and attended the same school. My aunt played the cello, and my nephew played the violin.
After school, Robert decided to get higher education at the same institute where his parents studied. However, it was not possible to pass the qualifying competition. And then the failed student, as they say, "thundered" into the army. I had to serve in the far north in the fire brigade. It's a thing of the past, but Robert never regretted his time in the barracks. Returning to civilian life, he changed his mind about going to college and got a job at the first job he came across. He devoted all his free time to studies. I listened to the programs of foreign music radio stations. He strummed the guitar, composing his own compositions.
Professional debut
Music lessons brought pleasant sensations, but also required more substantive results. Robert wanted to perform in front of the public and record albums. After much thought and evaluation, Lenz came to the conclusion that he needed to create his own team. Experienced producers know that the distance from concept to implementation is enormous. In the late 80s, the English-speaking rock group "Quiet Hour" was formed. Talented guys, vocalists and musicians managed to record one album and an EP. There weren't enough resources and inspiration for more.
The team broke up, and Lenz found himself in a difficult situation. He, as an organizer and inspirer, undertook all financial obligations. There were a lot of debts, but concerts and albums did not bring any income. To pay off the loans, Robert played in various groups, including with the groups "Ladybug", "Bakhyt-Kompot" and others. Along with performances on stage, Lenz moonlighted as a watchman and a loader. The difficult situation dragged on for several years. It is important to emphasize that the musician did not lose his optimism.
Recognition and success
The situation in life changed for the better after Robert was invited to the cult group "Bravo". This happened in 1995. The performer himself came to work with some caution. Before him, the vocal parts in the group were performed by Zhanna Aguzarova and Valery Syutkin. These names were known throughout the country and far beyond its borders. For Robert Lenz, the real difficulty was that he only sang in English. And then it was necessary to retrain. The first album with his participation, entitled "At the Crossroads of Spring", was released six months later.
According to outside observers, the presence of the new guitarist and vocalist had a positive effect on the band's creativity. Three seasons later, in 1998, the Bravo group released their next album, Hits About Love. Then there was a tour across the country, in which all three soloists took part - Zhanna Aguzarov, Valery Syutkin and Robert Lenz. The journalists came up with the name "Bravomania" for this event. The group was greeted with delight in all corners of Russia.
Personal life score
The performing career of Robert Lenz was quite successful. When asked what else he would like to achieve, the musician replies that he is satisfied with the current situation. He speaks sparingly about his personal life. He considers himself a superstitious person and cannot stand his sorrows beyond the threshold. Robert is legally married.
