The value of the national currency in the world market depends on many factors.

Determining the value of a currency

To ensure comparability of measurements, exchange rates are usually expressed in one of the most common currencies - the US dollar or the euro. At the same time, a study of the list of the most expensive currencies in the world shows that there are representatives of countries located in different parts of the world. However, some general conclusions from this list can still be drawn. So, judging by the exchange rate of national currencies, the most successful economies in the world are located in the Middle East and Europe.

The most expensive currencies in the world

Despite the fact that the rates of these national currencies, like most other monetary units, are subject to fluctuations, they are often not significant enough to radically change the top five most expensive world currencies.

So, in the first place in this list is the Kuwaiti dinar. In the international foreign exchange market, this currency is usually denoted by the abbreviation KWD. Its approximate value in relation to the US dollar is about 3.5 dollars for one Kuwaiti dinar. Thus, the approximate exchange rate of the Kuwaiti dinar in relation to the Russian ruble is about 120 rubles per dinar.

The second and third places in this list with practically the same indicators are shared by the currencies of two more Middle Eastern countries - Bahrain and Oman. Thus, one of the most expensive world currencies - the Bahraini dinar - is the national currency of Bahrain, denoted by the abbreviation BHD. The Omani rial, denoted OMR, is not inferior to it. The approximate cost of both currencies is about 2, 7 US dollars, and depending on fluctuations in the exchange rate, one or the other currency rises to the second place in the ranking of the most expensive payment units, leaving the rival in third place. In relation to the ruble, therefore, the cost of these currencies is about 100 rubles per unit.

As a result, the first three places in the list of the most expensive currencies in the world were owned by countries whose economies are based on oil production. However, the rest of the places in the top five went to European countries. So, in fourth place is the former republic of the USSR Latvia with its national payment unit - Latvian lats. Its cost is usually pegged to the euro, however, to ensure comparability of calculations, it can be noted that one Latvian lats corresponds to approximately $ 1.9. Thus, in ruble terms the value of lats is a little less than 70 rubles.

Finally, in the fifth place in this list is the more famous currency in the world - the pound sterling. Its cost today is about 1.7 US dollars, that is, about 60 rubles.
