Anatoly Alexandrovich was born in October 1940.
From an early age, the future scientist observed insects, he loved nature. Therefore, after graduating from school, Anatoly went to the forestry institute in the city of Moscow. He graduated from this institution in 1963. Five years later, a specialist who received a higher education was invited to work at the Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Here, future scientists dealt with the problems of evolution and ecology.
Scientific career
In the same 1968, Zakharov defended his candidate's work. In it, he highlighted the issues of red ants, developed in detail a plan for using these insects to preserve forest lands. In 1983, Anatoly Aleksandrovich already defended his doctoral dissertation. It is devoted to the study of the social organization of ants.

Zakharov made a great contribution to the study of these insects. Thus, he was the first to develop a hierarchy scheme within ant groups.
