Pavel Rostovtsev picked up the biathlon rifle at a young age. And in subsequent years he achieved impressive success in his sport. The biathlete's fate was not easy. Pavel personally experienced the ups and downs of his career. But he never lost heart, realizing that only hard work on himself would allow him to stand on the pedestal again. Rostovtsev retained his fighting qualities in numerous government posts.
From the biography of Pavel Rostovtsev
The future "shooting skier" and politician was born on September 21, 1971 in the town of Gus-Khrustalny (this is the Vladimir region). A few years later, the family moved to Velikiye Luki, then to the city of Kovrov. In the early 80s, Pasha began to attend the biathlon section.
It soon became clear: in the Vladimir region, there are no suitable conditions for the development of a young athlete. Pavel moves to Krasnoyarsk. At about the same time, the experienced coach V. Stolnikov drew attention to the talented newcomer.
In the 1995-1996 season, Rostovtsev made his debut in the World Cup. Pavel then took a very prestigious ninth place. Already in the next season, Rostovtsev becomes the owner of the KM bronze medal, having won the sprint race. And the very next day he snatched the "silver" in the pursuit. Impressive successes gave Pavel Alexandrovich a chance to gain a foothold in the main squad of the national team.
Soon Rostovtsev got married. His wife was Yulia Dykanyuk, who was also involved in biathlon. Paul had two sons. The wife and coach K. Ivanov helped the athlete in the days of a mental crisis, which was caused by the death of his father and former coach. Rostovtsev coped with the situation and even became the winner in a difficult relay at the World Championship.
Since 2000, Pavel Aleksandrovich has become a recognized team leader and team captain. New gold medals of the world championships appear on his "combat" account. However, the 2002 Olympics ended in failure for the biathlete and did not bring any awards. And the disgusting shooting of Pavel Rostovtsev at the final shooting range of the relay deprived him and his colleagues of chances for prizes. Rostovtsev's last personal victory took place in the winter of 2003. Then the results began to decline steadily.
Rostovtsev managed to excel only at the 2006 Olympic starts. Having masterfully completed his third stage, Pavel secured the second place for the team.
Career outside of big sport
Now the former champion lives in Krasnoyarsk. He headed the department of physical culture and sports of the region and the Krasnoyarsk "Academy of Biathlon". For three years Rostovtsev coached the women's national team in his favorite sport, being responsible for the shooting training of girls. Then he supervised the development of all sports work in the local sports school of the Olympic reserve.
Later Rostovtsev headed the agency for sports and tourism of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, which became close to him, was the Deputy Minister of Sports and Youth Policy of the Territory, represented the interests of the governor in the Central District of the country.
Since the fall of 2013, Pavel Aleksandrovich has been a deputy of the city council of the city of Krasnoyarsk from the political association "United Russia". In 2015, Rostovtsev headed the Ministry of Physical Culture and Youth Policy of the Irkutsk Region for six months, after which he returned to Krasnoyarsk, becoming an adviser to the governor. At the end of September 2019, the famous biathlete received a new appointment, becoming the Minister of Sports in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
