Marisa Tomei is a talented and charming American actress whose career began in the eighties and continues to this day. Her filmography currently includes about 70 films and TV series. In particular, she starred in the films "My Cousin Vinnie" (for this role she was given an Oscar), "The Wrestler", "The Devil's Games", "Spider-Man: Homecoming."
Childhood and first role
Marisa Tomei was born in 1964 in New York. Marisa is of Italian origin, her grandparents immigrated to the United States from Tuscany and Sicily.
The love for acting was instilled in Marisa by her mother and father, who were great fans of the theater (although they were not professionally connected with it in any way). They took Marisa with them to Broadway performances, thanks to which the girl at an early age got acquainted with the work of many theatrical stars.
In 1982, Marisa Tomei became a freshman at Boston University. But very soon, in 1983, she left him, as she was offered a role in the soap opera How the World Turns. Marisa starred in this multi-part project until 1985.
Oscar winning and further career
A real major success came to Tomei later, in the early nineties, after the release of the painting "My Cousin Vinnie" (1992). Here she played Mona Lisa - the extravagant girlfriend of the protagonist, novice lawyer Vinnie Gambini. For this really brilliant work, Tomei, as the best supporting actress, was eventually awarded an Oscar.
In 2000, she starred in the famous comedy "What Women Want", which was broadcasted many times, including on Russian TV. Here she played the waitress Lola. It was on Lola that Mel Gibson's character tested his ability to read minds and predict the desires of ladies in bed.
In 2001, Marisa Tomei could again become the owner of the main award in Hollywood. This time she was nominated for an Oscar for her work in a drama called In the Bedroom. Here she appeared before the audience in the form of an adult woman Natalie, who is having an affair with a young college student. As a result, this novel turns into a tragedy …
In 2007, Marisa Tomei played in the drama of the Hollywood master Sidney Lumet "The Devil's Play". And in some scenes of this film, the actress was not even afraid to appear naked.
In 2008, Tomei appeared in Darren Aronofsky's film The Wrestler. In this case, she got the role of the stripper Cassidy, a frustrated and tired woman who is already too old for what she does. The image of Cassidy turned out to be very believable, and the actress fully deserved her next Oscar nomination. But she still did not receive the second statuette - Penelope Cruz became the owner of the award that year.
Among Tomei's recent films, of course, it is worth noting the role of Aunt May in the blockbusters from Marvel Studios Captain America: Civil War (2016) and Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017).
Personal life
Marisa Tomei does not spread too much about her relationships with men. There is information that in the nineties she had affairs with Robert Downey Jr. (with him she worked in two films - "Chaplin" and "Only You") and Christian Slater (they starred together in the 1993 melodrama "Wild Heart").
For quite a long time, from 2008 to 2012, the actress met with Logan Marshall-Green (also an actor), but this relationship did not lead to marriage. Now Tomei is still not married, she has no children either.
One of Marisa's hobbies is belly dancing. She also loves rest in the countryside in the bosom of nature and organic products that she buys from farms or markets.
