The modern word registration has supplanted the boring concept of registration. However, little has fundamentally changed in Russian migration legislation: in order to legally live and work in the capital, you need to have registration at the place of residence or at the place of stay.
Instructions
Step 1
Decide what type of registration you need. Registration at the place of residence is the place in which a person is permanently located. The basis for considering a particular dwelling as a place of residence may be a certificate of registration of ownership, a lease or sublease agreement, as well as a social tenancy agreement and other documents. Temporary registration (that is, registration at the place of stay) is issued for any period - from several months to five years.
Step 2
To obtain registration at the place of stay, come to the territorial subdivision of the FMS to which your address belongs, together with the person providing the accommodation. Take with you:
- identity documents (passport or birth certificate);
- application for registration (write right there);
- documents that are the basis for your move into housing (lease agreement or certificate of registration of ownership - yours or the one to whom you are registering).
Upon receipt of a temporary registration, your permanent place of residence will remain the same, you will be given a certificate of registration at the place of stay.
Step 3
If you are going to register permanently, take with you the same package of documents plus a departure sheet if you have already been deregistered at your previous place of residence. An application for registration at the place of residence is written by you and - for your part - by the owner of the dwelling. If there are several homeowners, all of them must be present in person and confirm their consent.
The new registration at the place of residence will appear in your passport: on the corresponding page you will be stamped with the new address.
