Clive Barker is a writer, bestselling author, screenwriter, director, producer, theater and film actor, artist and photographer. Many performances have been staged based on his works, several famous films have been filmed. He is a screenwriter and director of the films Hellraiser, Candyman, Lord of Illusions.

early years
Clive was born in England in the fall of 1952. His parents had nothing to do with art. My father served in a small organization and dealt with personnel issues, and my mother worked in the education system.
Back in his school years, the boy began to write his first works and participate in the work of the school publishing house. After completing his secondary education, Clive went to university and entered the Faculty of English Literature and Philosophy.
Creative biography
At the age of twenty, Barker, together with his friends, creates his own small musical theater, where they stage performances, imitating the famous French horror theater "Grand Guignol". Barker also became interested in cinema and shot his first short films, where all the roles were played by his friends.
A few years later, Clive went to London, where he began to engage not only in writing, but also in drawing. Soon, the young artist and writer receives an order from the famous music group The Who to create the cover for their new album.
Ramsey Campbell was interested in Barker's work. And soon he introduced the talented young man to the famous editor and literary critic D. Winter. And two years later, Clive published his first collection of the "Books of Blood" series. Although his works did not become popular in England, in America they were fully appreciated. A year later, Barker receives his first World Fantasy Award. Soon his new novel, "The Cursed Game", will be published.
A year later, Clive wrote the script for the film "The Underworld", but the resulting film did not satisfy him, so Barker decides to start directing on his own. In 1987 he directed the film Hellraiser according to his own script, which later became one of the best films in the horror genre.
Two years later, Barker moved to the United States, began work on a new book, The Phenomenon of Mystery, and continued to direct. A film based on the book "The Tribe of Darkness" is coming out soon. The picture was a great success with the audience, became the basis for the creation of a series of comics and a computer game.
Having earned enough money, Barker buys one of the mansions in London and there he begins to write the next book - "Imagika", which has become one of his most beloved works.
All of Barker's works are created in the horror genre. He himself more than once explained this by the fact that from a young age he was always interested in mysticism and otherworldly phenomena. Literary critics have called Clive one of the finest writers in the horror and fantasy genres.
Personal life and relationships
About the personal life of Clive Barker, we can only say that in the early 90s he openly declared his non-traditional sexual orientation. And for many years he lived with his partner - photographer and artist E. Armstrong.
