Biography and family
The writer was born on January 8, 1959 in Zaporozhye (Ukraine). He was educated at the Leningrad Technological Institute as a chemical engineer. After graduation, he worked at various enterprises, was seriously fond of karate-do, the creation of poems and songs. He was a member of the City Song Club, where he began to compose works for stage, radio and television.
In 1986, he quit his job at a defense plant and became a shift supervisor in the Red Triangle. In the same period, he became a laureate of the All-Union Competition. In the 90th year of the last century, the first author's collection of poems "The Way to the Heart of the Mountain" was published, and began to work in the theater. He made his debut by writing a libretto for the children's play "The Wizard of the Emerald City".
Alexander Vladimirovich was married three times, each of them does not consider it successful. Each time the family was created by mutual love. In 2001, she met Anna Gurova. She is his wife to this day. Anna is one of the famous writers, the author of science fiction and children's books. The acquaintance took place at a literary meeting between Mazin and his readers. Gurova was not a fan of the writer, but she turned out to be at the meeting quite by accident. In total, Alexander has four children and one granddaughter.
Creativity and career
Alexander Mazin's writing career went uphill after participating in the competition of the publishing house "North-West". In 1994, the first novel, The Shaker of the Firm, was published, which was later published under the new title The Sleeping Dragon.
In 1995, Alexander Vladimirovich left the theater, devoting all his time to prose. Simultaneously:
- works in advertising;
- makes attempts to publish a magazine for those who study English;
- signs a contract with the Azbuka publishing house.
Fame brought the action-packed mystical thriller "The Inquisitor", which appeared after the publication of the books "Panic", "Fargal".
When the default occurred in 1998, the Azbuka publishing house could not continue to cooperate with the author. Therefore, the latter was forced to switch to "Terra", and a little later - to "Machaon". During this time, three books were published. A little later Mazin referred to "Blind Orpheus" as the most valuable work for him.
A few years later V. Krylov, co-owner of the St. Petersburg publishing house "Nevsky Prospect" became interested in the "Nomad" project. The Krylov book-printing company was specially created for him. In it, the writer was employed as an editor. Remaining in office, Mazin continued to delight readers with new products. In 2011 he became a laureate of the Bast Prize for historical fiction. The work itself was written twenty years ago.
The Krylov publishing house was tasked with bringing back adventurous historical novels into everyday life, describing a certain historically reliable world in modern language. The author notes that his overarching task is the interest of readers in the past so that after reading fiction there is a desire to turn to scientific literature.
In 2014, Alexander accepts the offer of the AST publishing house and in one of its branches founds his own editorial office "Astrel-SPb".
In addition to prose, the author wrote articles:

The views of the writer
Alexander Mazin notes that the most interesting thing is people. The rest acts as some kind of decoration. When preparing to write books, preference is given to a scientific approach, therefore, most of the fantastic stories are based on geography, ethnography and earthly history.
The writer notes that the general level of books has been at the same level for several years. New authors appear who are trying to "oust" those who have recently been in the lead. He also speaks about the quality of modern prose and fantastic works of the new generation, noting not very bright prospects.
A few years ago, the era of projects began. Post-up took key positions in the market, where quality is not given much importance. Many professionals have gone into this field because of the big money. Alexander notes that the number of riders is increasing, the cost of books is falling. Because of this, the income of the writers was drastically reduced. Fiction suffers the most because of the pirates.
Alexander Mazin has been occupying one of the leading places among the best writers for several years, the total circulation of books exceeded 3 million copies. The writer is not going to stop there, so he periodically pleases his fans with new works. Since 2001, several books have been published together with his wife. The writer does not try to influence the creation of readers with his creativity, but simply tries to create interesting books.
