God originally created the world perfect and pure. But after the Fall, everything changed. Man himself has destroyed the model of being. And now not a single thing created by human hands can be called good. Orthodox Christians, in order to correct this and put a particle of the spiritual into the material, consecrate things that are dear to them.
Instructions
Step 1
Remember that the sacrament of the consecration of an object is not the most important thing. The main thing is the thoughts that are born at the same time in a person's head. Without pure thoughts, this ceremony becomes meaningless.
Step 2
Consecrate the house with water taken on the feast of the Baptism of the Lord. It is believed that she drives out evil spirits, cleanses from filth, brings peace to the dwelling.
Step 3
Invite the priest to consecrate an apartment or house for the first time. Only after the priest has performed the rite, the owner is allowed to perform the sacrament on his own.
Step 4
Carry out a wet cleaning of the room before the arrival of a minister of the church, turn off the TV and loud music. Clear a table or other surface in the room. Put on a nice tablecloth. The priest will lay out the attributes for the sacrament there. If there are no icons in the house, be sure to hang them. The shrines should be in the "red corner", near the east-facing window.
Step 5
Explain to everyone present that an ordinance is being prepared. If anyone is against sanctification, let him leave the premises. The rest must clear their minds of sinful thoughts and read prayers. Ask them to regard this procedure as something very important and valuable to themselves and those around them.
Step 6
Do not follow the priest with the whole family when he moves around the house and read prayers, sprinkling corners and walls with holy water. Decide who will accompany him. The rest should sit quietly in another room.
Step 7
You can repeat the ceremony yourself if the house has already been consecrated by the priest. This is not just the right of the owner, but his duty, entrusted to the holy church. Take for this only the water consecrated in the temple. Sprinkle the walls with a handful or brush on a rosary, crosswise. At the same time, read the prayers "Grace of the Holy Spirit" and "In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit."
Step 8
It is forbidden to use foul language, smoke, and perform other unpious acts in a consecrated house. The sacrament will lose its power and will have to be performed again.
