Biography

Alexey was born in the morning of July 11 in 1963 in Moscow. The child was taught to read early, and Wells and Lermontov were his first favorite authors. Alyosha spent a lot of time with his grandmother, whose house was literally packed with books. Even before school, the boy "swallowed" Doyle, Zweig, London, Heinlein, Harrison and Shakespeare. Of course, all this was reflected in his future books. Little Alyosha wrote his first story, inspired by the stories of famous classics, at the age of six.

Further in his biography there was nothing outstanding. Eight grades of high school, medical school, the army, where he served in the construction battalion and received the profession of a bricklayer. After the army, he graduated from the Institute of Food Industry, along with his studies he worked as a laboratory assistant at a biomedicine university and wrote stories.

Creative career

In 1996, he prepared the defense of his thesis and published his first book "Labyrinth", and soon its sequel "Torn Time". The Armada publishing house offered the writer a long-term contract, and Kalugin faced a choice: a career by profession or a writing path. He chose literature and never regretted it in his life.

In 1998, after the crisis in the country, Aleksey Aleksandrovich Kalugin parted with "Armada" and began to cooperate with the famous "Eksmo". He liked that this publishing house did not present genre and dimensional frameworks to writers, and he had the opportunity to immerse himself in creativity, without looking back at the ridiculous rules. During this period, the best works of the writer were published.

In 2004, the story "In the Garden" was published, which became the author's greatest success - he received the Strugatsky Prize, and based on his story, a symphonic poem was staged on the theater stage of St. Petersburg. He actively participates in the creation of the popular S. T. A. L. K. E. R. cycle.

Kalugin's name became the main one in a high-profile scandal with torrent trackers that illegally distributed his books. "Eksmo" made a lot of lawsuits, thanks to which there were massive blocking of pirate resources.

Personal life of the writer

Alexey always writes his books to his favorite music. He loves jazz, blues and hard rock classics and is extremely hostile to chanson. Condemns Moscow as a terrible and evil city, but is not going to move from there. Kalugin has an official website, and yet he prefers to communicate with fans through his books. He does not advertise his private life literally categorically, and therefore information about whether he has a wife, how he lives, who his family is, or what the writer is fond of in his free time from work simply does not exist.
