Starting conditions

When a person gets on a train, he does not think about the technical features that were used in the production of cars. He simply feels the convenience or inconvenience of certain nodes and elements. And only after such an acquaintance can he inquire about the name of the engineer who created a certain device. Boris Alekseevich Levin held the post of rector of the Moscow Institute of Transport Engineers (MIIT) for more than twenty years. Over the past years, the educational institution has trained a huge number of specialists who have worked and continue to work on the railway.

The future rector of the country's leading university was born on August 11, 1949 in a working class family. Parents lived in the town of Zheleznodorozhny near Moscow. My father worked as a locomotive driver on the railway. The mother was engaged in housekeeping and raising children. Boris grew up as the eldest child in the house, and this circumstance imposed certain responsibilities on him. He did well at school. But after the eighth grade he entered the Moscow Electrotechnical College. In 1968 he received a diploma with honors and continued his studies at the famous MIIT.

Teaching activities

In his student years, Levin was the commissar of the line construction detachment. For two years he served as secretary of the institute committee of the Komsomol. In 1973, having received a higher profile education, he entered the postgraduate course at the Department of Automated Control Systems. In 1977 he defended his Ph. D. thesis and took the post of head of postgraduate studies. Using the accumulated experience of organizational work, Boris Alekseevich created the Branch Center for Scientific and Pedagogical Personnel on the basis of postgraduate studies. In 1995, this center was successfully transformed into the Russian Academy of Railways.

Levin's administrative career was quite successful. The creativity and organizational abilities of Boris Alekseevich were noticed in the government of the Russian Federation. In the spring of 1997, he was appointed rector of his native MIIT. Levin turned out to be the eighteenth head of the university. By that time, a lot of big and small problems had accumulated in the Russian higher education system. An experienced teacher and manager got, figuratively speaking, a half-living object of management. It is important to note that Boris Alekseevich did not fill this position, but he also considered it unethical to refuse.

Recognition and privacy

In the fall of 2018, Levin left the post of rector, citing his health condition. For more than twenty years, the educational institution has become one of the most advanced in the world. This is not an exaggeration. Currently, students from Asia, Africa, America and Europe are studying in various specialties.

The history of the personal life of the legendary scientist and rector fits into several lines. Levin lives in a legal and only marriage. The husband and wife raised and raised two children. They often have grandchildren and even great-grandchildren as guests.
