Migration legislation is developing the norms of the institute of citizenship of the Russian Federation. He determined that specific groups of migrants, under special conditions, can obtain Russian citizenship in a simplified manner.
The simplified procedure for acquiring Russian citizenship implies a reduction in the period for considering an application from a year to 6 months. Another feature of this order is that the relevant decision is made by the heads of the authorized bodies of the Federal Migration Service in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
The following categories of migrants have the right to quickly obtain citizenship: - foreign citizens who have at least one of their parents - a citizen of the Russian Federation permanently residing on its territory; - stateless persons who lived in the territory of the union republics, but after the collapse of the USSR never received citizenship of these states; - citizens of the union republics of the former USSR who received secondary vocational or higher vocational education in educational institutions located on the territory of the Russian Federation after July 1, 2002; - parents raising a child-citizen of the Russian Federation; - persons who are married to a citizen RF for at least three years; - Veterans of the Great Patriotic War.
Based on various international agreements and treaties concluded between the Russian Federation, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, and also Kazakhstan, citizens of these states are entitled to a simplified procedure for acquiring Russian citizenship.
To acquire citizenship of the Russian Federation, the following package of documents should be collected and submitted to the migration authorities: - personal application in duplicate; - passport; - certificate from the place of work; - document confirming withdrawal from the citizenship of another country; - marriage registration certificate; - photos in quantity of 4 pieces, size 3x4; - receipt of payment of the state fee. Documents can be submitted in notarized copies. Documents made in a foreign language are subject to translation. The correctness of the translation is certified by a notary.
To obtain citizenship in a simplified manner, it is required to comply with the following mandatory conditions: - be registered in accordance with labor legislation, have legal earnings; - apply to the authorized body of a foreign state with an application for renouncing citizenship; - speak Russian, that is, the state language of the Russian Federation.
