For Americans, Halloween is a truly massive and fun holiday, although it is not considered official. The tradition of celebrating All Saints Day is rooted in the distant past, at a time when people believed in spirits, ghosts and witches. Today, you will not frighten anyone with evil forces, but Halloween in America is still the most unusual holiday of the year.

Step 1

Both children and adults begin to prepare for Halloween long before its onset. Stores know such volumes on sales of sweets, costumes and paraphernalia only once a year - at Christmas. Literally everything is sold with Halloween symbols: clothes, sweets, cakes, postcards, home and yard decorations, even costumes for pets. In schools, they prepare theatrical performances on the theme of Halloween, act out scenes, and hold holidays.

Step 2

Of course, Halloween is a holiday mainly for children, it is most dear to them. On this day, children are forgiven almost any pranks, and therefore they are waiting for it with pleasure. Children prepare costumes for this day for a long time, often make them themselves together with their parents. Costumes, of course, should depict some kind of monster, ghost, scary animal or pumpkin. Among them there are quite kind and cute, but still the theme of the holiday must be observed.

Step 3

A few days before Halloween, the apartment, house and its territory are decorated with lights, garlands, candles in carved pumpkins, brooms, figurines of witches, bats, spiders, ghosts, skeletons. Previously, people decorated their houses and clothes with such signs so that the evil spirits that once a year come to the surface of the earth would not notice them and do no harm, or to scare away evil forces from the house. This tradition has remained, and now celebrants decorate their homes for entertainment.

Step 4

On the evening of October 31, children dress up in costumes, pick up baskets or bags and go hunting for sweets. This is the most interesting part of the holiday for them. They knock on the doors of neighbors dressed as monsters, scare them, demand to buy off sweets, otherwise they threaten to smear the door with soot or make other trouble. Of course, these threats are comic and also remained from those ancient times, when such scenes were played out, believing in real witches and ghosts.

Step 5

But even for adults, the Halloween holiday does not remain forgotten. For them, this is the time of noisy parties, which must be attended in a suit. In addition, both adults and children love to arrange pranks on Halloween night, tell scary stories, scare their friends, and put something scary on them as a surprise. All this is done for fun, so it causes not only fear, but also fun.

Step 6

For many people in the country, this time is associated not only with the excitement in stores or at sales, but also with the help of other people. Halloween is one of the few mass holidays during which orphans and elderly single people can feel massive support and receive attention. Stores often donate part of their proceeds to charity for the sale of themed goods, distribute sweets to those categories of citizens who are not able to afford them, and organize holidays in nursing homes or orphanages.
