In the myths of different peoples, there were legends about how man appeared and life on Earth was born. In most legends, the gods used their craft skills to create civilization.
Mesopotamian legends about the origin of life
The Akkadian poem "On the Creation of the World", written in the 2nd millennium BC, says how fresh water (masculine principle) and the sea (feminine principle) united, and from their union the first deities appeared.
The Mesopotamians were sure that the world was created by the gods, of whom there were many before the appearance of the first man. Divine creatures were bored, and some even had to work. The heavenly and earthly gods constantly fought among themselves for power and needed to be worshiped. Once Enki, the lord of underground fresh waters, decided to create new creatures - people who should serve the gods. Enki dipped a piece of clay into the blood of the sacrificed god to give people intelligence, and his mother put the mixture into molds. After 9 months, the first generation of people appeared on Earth - 7 women and 7 men.
Egyptian Creation Legends
Initially, only the Nun Ocean existed in the darkness, from which, thanks to chaotic floods, a hill rose with the sun god Ra at the top. From his lips came the gods of air and moisture, and from their union appeared the Earth and the Sky. Then the stars and the Universe arose. New gods were born, and the earth settled down. Once the god Khnum molded a man on a potter's wheel. According to myths, he put his craft on stream. God put vitality into every person and could dispose of human destiny.
Scandinavian legends
The Vikings believed that the world originated in the northern ice. From the melted frost from the icy abyss appeared the giant Ymir and the cow Audumla. Many other giants emerged from the sweat of Ymir. In turn, the cow Audumla licked the salt stones and the gods arose. Wars broke out between the giants and the deities, and later an irreconcilable enmity ensued. The gods sought to exterminate the clan of giants, and when they killed Emir, they created earth, sky, sea and mountains from his body. On the seashore, they found willow and ash trunks and breathed life into them. The deities endowed trees with feelings and thoughts, and according to Scandinavian legends, these two trees became the first people on Earth.
Hindu dream of humanity
In Hindu mythology, one of the versions of the creation of the world says that initially there was only the world's ocean. On it, lying on a giant snake, the god Vishnu swam. One day he dreamed of the future world, and when he woke up, a lotus grew from his navel. The god Brahma emerged from the flower and created everything on Earth. He also created the first man - the sage Manu, whom he later gave a wife for worshiping the gods. This is how the human race was born.
