Starting conditions
The famous figure skater Ekaterina Alexandrovna Gordeeva was born on May 28, 1971 in an intelligent family. Parents at that time lived in Moscow. My father served as a dancer in the State Song and Dance Ensemble. Mother worked as an editor at a news agency. In pair skating, the team of Soviet figure skaters consistently showed high results. Young athletes had to look up to the famous heroes who had already left the sport. In 1983, the Gordeeva-Grinkov pair took only sixth place at the junior world championship. The following season, they climbed to the highest step of the podium. And a year later, already well-known athletes won silver at the national and European championships, and at the world championships they snatched the gold medal from their rivals from America. Gordeeva's sports career was developing successfully. She learned how figure skaters from other countries live and train. I learned to understand coaches. However, there were also unpleasant incidents. During training, Ekaterina fell and received a severe concussion. Treatment and rehabilitation took a whole year. In 1988, the Winter Olympics were held in the American city of Calgary. The victory of the Soviet couple was as needed as air. And they won gold medals.
