Siberian hardening

Winter in the Siberian expanses is long and frosty. For a long time, children and older guys have fun playing hockey on the surface of frozen water bodies. In the mid-fifties, bandy competitions began to be held internationally. The famous hockey player and coach Sergei Ivanovich Lomanov was born on May 22, 1957 in an ordinary Soviet family. The older brother Victor was already growing up in the house. Parents lived in Krasnoyarsk. My father worked as a foreman at an engineering plant. Mother taught literature in high school.

In those years, much attention was paid to children's sports. Football tournaments under the Leather Ball brand were regularly held in summer. In winter, bandy under the Wicker Ball brand. The children went out on the ice with pleasure and excitement and learned to win. Sergey Lomanov went out on the ice with a stick when he was barely seven years old. More precisely, at this age he was enrolled in the hockey section of the sports club "Brigantina". By this time, the boy was already confidently skating and regularly visited the skating rink at the Yenisei stadium.

At school, Sergei studied well. Regular training and participation in various tournaments forced Lomanov to clearly allocate his time. The hockey players' training system presupposed permanent lessons both in winter and in summer. In the winter, technical and tactical training was carried out. Each player must know his own maneuver, as the first coach told young hockey players. In the summer, the emphasis was on general physical training and strengthening the immune system. Sergei Ivanovich maintained a similar approach to the preparation of players as a coach.

In 1974 Lomanov completed his secondary education and was admitted to the famous bandy team "Yenisei". The gaming experience came gradually. At his own stadium, Sergei felt calmer and more confident. In games on the road, he sometimes lacked self-control. Possessing a firm and impetuous character, the young player never gave himself offense. Excellent physical and technical training allowed him to achieve decent results. Opponents, when they could not stop the attacker, used prohibited techniques against him.

Stages of a long journey

By the beginning of the 80s, a close-knit core of players had formed in the team of Krasnoyarsk "Yenisei". Well trained, disciplined and physically prepared players acted on all lines, in defense and attack. Each of the team members contributed to the victory. Lomanov occupied the position of a central striker. His main task was to score the ball into the opponent's goal. In other words, the attacker completed difficult combinations that the entire team played.

For ten years, Yenisei has been at the top of the national championship table. Since the statistics take into account the performance of each player individually, Lomanov has the best indicators. In games at the championships of the Soviet Union, the famous hockey player played 330 matches. He not only played well, but also regularly hit the opponent's goal. In these matches, Sergei scored 582 goals. From the height of the years passed, such results seem fantastic. It should be remembered that a hockey player from Krasnoyarsk defended the honor of the country at international tournaments.

In games for the national team, Lomanov hit the gate 196 times. The hockey player's sports career was developing successfully. In official matches alone, he scored more than 1,200 goals against his opponents. He was well known and respected in the Scandinavian countries. In Norway, Sweden and Finland they also like to play bandy. And they not only love, but also know how. The Swedish team has always been an "inconvenient" opponent for the Russians. In 1989, when the country refused to financially support the team from Krasnoyarsk, the famous hockey player received an offer to play for the Swedish team Sirius.

Coaching concerns

For six years Sergey Lomanov played under the flag of the Swedish club. He played with dignity, as best he could. Received a corresponding salary. Meanwhile, in Krasnoyarsk, ball hockey was losing its popularity. To somehow rectify the situation, in 1996, Sergei Ivanovich was invited to his hometown and offered to lead the Yenisei team as a coach. Where to go? A patriot of his city, a fan of bandy, agreed to return to his native land.

In the next two years, the team, under the strict guidance of Lomanov, won the Russian Cup. These achievements were noted by the competent persons. Sergei Ivanovich was awarded the Order of Honor and offered to take the position of head coach of the national team. He did not refuse the order, and held a high position for less than a year. Today big sport is more like “big business”, and Lomanov is not an expert in business - he wrote a letter of resignation and left for Krasnoyarsk.

The personal life of the Krasnoyarsk athlete and coach has developed successfully. He has been happily married for a long time. The husband and wife raised a son, whose name is also Sergei. For a child, the father's example is always attractive and infectious. Today Lomanov Jr. is on the list of world-class hockey players. He plays for his native Yenisei and for the Russian national team. He does not neglect his father's advice.
