Bondarchuk Sergey is a famous Soviet actor and director. He was able to achieve great success, received Stalin's recognition, shot several paintings that have become masterpieces.
Early years, adolescence
Sergei Fedorovich was born in the village of Belozerka (Ukraine) on September 25, 1920. His parents worked on a collective farm. Then the family moved to Taganrog, my father worked at a factory. Later they lived in Yeisk.
While studying at school, Sergei became interested in cinema and theater, attended a theater club, participated in performances. He wanted to become an actor and after school he entered the theater school of Rostov. Sergei did not have time to finish his studies - the war began.
He was mobilized only in 1946. Then Sergei continued his studies, having entered the VGIK, he was immediately taken to the 3rd year. Bondarchuk finished his studies in 1948.
Creative career
After graduation, Bondarchuk worked at the Mosfilm film studio and at the Film Actor's Studio Theater. He made his film debut, starring in the movie "Young Guard".
The actor became famous by playing the role of the main character in the movie "Taras Shevchenko". Stalin liked the picture, Bondarchuk was awarded the title of People's Artist. He was also allowed to appear in foreign films, at that time almost no one was given permission for this. He starred in the film "Battle on the Neretva" (directed by Velko Bulaijic), "There was a night in Rome" (directed by Roberto Rossellini).
In 1959, Bondarchuk was appointed director of "Mosfilm", in the same year his first film "The Fate of a Man" was released, where Sergei Fyodorovich played the main character. The film received the Lenin Prize and many awards.
Later, Bondarchuk often appeared in films where he was a director. According to critics, the most successful were the roles of Bondarchuk in the films of the 70s ("Uncle Vanya", "Choosing a Target", "Gadfly").
In 1966, his film War and Peace was released, which brought worldwide fame. The director worked on the picture for 6 years. The film was shown in many countries of the world and won an Oscar.
Other film masterpieces were the films "Waterloo", "They Fought for the Motherland." For the last picture, the director received the State Prize. In 1978 Bondarchuk directed the film "Steppe" based on Chekhov, in 1982 the film "Red Bells" was released, for which the director was again awarded the State Prize.
In the 90s Sergei Fedorovich collaborated with the Italian producer Enzo Rispoli, together they shot the picture "Quiet Flows the Don". This was his last work as a director. The last was the role in the film "The Thunderstorm over Russia". Bondarchuk died on October 20, 1994, he was 74 years old.
Personal life
The first wife of Sergei Fedorovich - Belousov Evgenia. The couple had a son, Alexei, but the marriage broke up. It happened after the war. Alexey became a mathematician.
Later, Bondarchuk married Makarova Inna, they studied together at VGIK. They had a daughter, Natalya, then she became a film director.
Sergei Fedorovich concluded his third marriage with Skobtseva Irina, an actress. He met her during the filming of the film "Othello". They had two children - Alena and Fedor. Alena passed away in 2009, Fedor became a successful actor and director.
