Levitan Yuri Borisovich, (Jewish name - Yudko Berkovich), was born on September 19, 1914 in a small village in the Vladimir region in a family of ordinary Jews. His father worked in a sewing workshop, and his mother ran a household. From childhood, Yuri, who dreamed of becoming a great actor, immediately after leaving school tries to enter the Moscow Theater School, but because of his loud voice and peculiar manner of conversation, he does not pass the entrance tests. Personal life
Yuri Borisovich was married once. In 1938, a modest girl Raya, a teacher of German and English, became his wife. Soon after the wedding, she gave him a daughter, Natalia. The couple lived together for about ten years, after which Raisa filed for divorce. Levitan did not oppose her decision and in 1949 they divorced, but maintained friendly relations.
