Biography
Olga was born in the Urals, in the industrial town of Verkhnyaya Salda. This significant event took place in the family of ordinary engineers on September 21, 1966. The girl grew up quite unsociable, hated the Soviet school order, marching in formation and patriotic events.
During her school years, she never made friends, immersed in the world of her fantasies and books. There, she began to sing in an amateur performance, accompanying herself on a seven-string guitar converted to six strings, which her father gave. Olga learned to play it on her own, choosing melodies by ear. And she began to win all the contests in a row.
Education
After school, Olya left for Sverdlovsk, where she entered the Ural University at the Faculty of Physics. By the way, now this city is called Yekaterinburg. But after two semesters, the girl unexpectedly quits her studies and enters the local music school.
Olga's vocal teacher is the legendary Gurevich, whose students, mostly opera singers, perform in the world's best theaters. Then there was the Gnessin Institute, where Olga studied pop singing with Lev Leshchenko. In 1987 Arefieva took part in the Jurmala-87 competition, becoming its laureate, and for the first time faced the intrusive censorship of the organizers of such projects. And she forever decided for herself that she would become independent from editors and government events.
Career
In 1990, Arefieva Olga Viktorovna moved to Moscow. It was there that the collective with the name "Ark" was born.
Olga constantly experimented with musical styles. Her group periodically changed its name, from "Acoustic Ark" to "Reggae Ark", eventually settling on just "Ark". Tours in Europe, the organization of independent music festivals, the publication of poems in magazines … In a word, Olga was engaged in all areas of creativity that were interesting to her and attracted those around her, generously sharing her vision of the world with them.
Since 2004, she has created a performance group called KALIMBA as part of her Human Comedy project. Olga believes that in any performance, serious work with the voice and body is required, rhythm, movement, sound, poetry, and, of course, love are important. This incredible woman's style is a cross between a traveling circus and academic theater classics.
Arefieva has written several books, collaborates with many creative teams that do something that goes beyond standard shows. She has her own website, magazine and video channel on the network. Freedom and imagination dominate the work of Olga, who once said in one of her famous "monotonies": "Normality is inappropriate in this world …"
