The Soviet figure skating school was based on a solid foundation. Indoor skating rinks operated in large cities. The coaching staff was trained in special educational institutions. Marina Zueva, choreographer and trainer, has achieved outstanding success in the training of figure skaters.
Starting conditions
Marina Olegovna Zueva was born on April 9, 1956 in an ordinary Soviet family. Parents lived in Moscow. The girl grew and developed under normal conditions. The child was prepared from an early age for adulthood. She helped her mother around the house. She could do the cleaning herself, wash the dishes, wash the linen. A few years later, the Zuev family moved to Leningrad. It was in this city that the future coach began attending a children's and youth sports school. Within the framework of the then system, Marina was put on skates at the age of four.
Marina received her first figure skating experience under the guidance of a full-time teacher at a sports school. From the very beginning, she tried to follow the example of her older comrades. In the early seventies, a promising figure skater was transferred to the capital and assigned to the famous coach Elena Tchaikovskaya. Under her leadership, the ice dancing couple Marina Zueva and Andrei Vitman achieved very good results.
Professional activity
Soviet athletes in all sports fiercely competed with each other. The same situation was observed in figure skating. The dance couple Zueva-Vitman took third place in the 1976 national championship. The athletes repeated this success a year later. However, they did not manage to get high results at the European and World Championships. In the late 70s, Zueva decided to end her sports career. She moved to work as a choreographer at CSKA and began her studies at the scriptwriting department at GITIS.
In her new status as a trainer and choreographer, Zueva reached worthy heights. Directing education helped her in her professional career. She worked for many years with a pair of Gordeeva - Grinkov. The skaters became Olympic champions twice - in 1988 and 1994. Circumstances in the life of Marina Olegovna developed in such a way that she was forced to leave for Canada. The qualified specialist was welcomed. We provided everything you need to work with young athletes.
Essays on personal life
In the biography of the trainer, it is recorded that after a while she moved to the United States. Pupils of Marina Zuev firmly occupied the upper steps of the podium at prestigious competitions. In the States, Zueva began to cooperate with Igor Shpilband, a native of the USSR. They have clearly defined their areas of responsibility when working with athletes. Igor deals with the technical side, and Marina "choreographs" the choreography.
Marina Zueva has no personal life in the literal sense of the word. Yes, there is a son whom she helps through life. Officially, the now famous coach did not have a husband. Whether she could have become a good wife is beyond doubt. However, something somewhere did not match. She gives the unspent love to her pupils and professional creativity.
