Why Sergei Steblov, who showed himself in a variety of theatrical and cinematic roles, suddenly decided to choose the path of a monk, for many of his fans is still a mystery. But the main thing is that this choice of the only son was understood and accepted by his father - People's Artist of Russia Yevgeny Yuryevich Steblov.
The most awaited
The birth of a desired baby for any family is a great happiness, a reward, a hope for the continuation of the family. A test at the same time. For the family of Evgeny Yuryevich Steblov and his wife Osipova Tatyana Ivanovna, the birth of their son Sergei is more than a test of everyday life, sleepless nights. After all, Tatyana Ivanovna was forbidden by doctors to give birth for cardiological reasons.
But despite all the warnings of doctors, she really wanted to have children, and this dream became a reality on March 13, 1973. Fortunately, the delivery went well, without complications, but the child caught a cold in the hospital and Tatyana Ivanovna was not immediately discharged home. Evgeny Steblov, on the one hand, showed paternal care, and on the other, did not have a proper understanding of what it was like for a wife to be alone in her arms with a baby.
After the death of his wife, the famous actor recalled with deep remorse how, having caught a cold, in order not to infect the baby, he lived with his parents for some time and stayed there also because he just wanted to rest. And yet, love and understanding reigned in the Steblov family. The couple lived in fidelity and harmony for 38 years. And in such an atmosphere their son Sergei was brought up.
I must say that Sergei did not cause much trouble to his parents, even at an age that is considered to be transitional. They managed not to spoil their only offspring, and Steblov the elder gladly confessed more than once how warmly everyone who had a chance to communicate with him and work spoke about his son. Perhaps, all members of this family are characterized by spiritual nobility, frankness, honesty.
Probably, without knowing it, the parents and the attention of their son turned to the church. The fact is that Sergei was not baptized in infancy. Perhaps this was due to the period when faith in God was hidden and church attendance was condemned. Although Yevgeny Steblov himself is a deeply religious person. When Sergei was already a teenager, his parents invited him to accept the rite of baptism.
Then the son agreed, but of course he did not perceive it as his destiny. You never know baptized in the world. Youth appeared in Sergei's imagination in bright colors. He wanted to continue the acting dynasty and after school entered the Shchukin School, which he successfully graduated in 1994. He studied on the course of V. Ivanov.
A talented actor or the son of a talented actor father
It seems that if Sergei did not have an acting talent, then he could hardly have done so much in his short acting and directing biography. Although some film critics believe that the professional career of Steblov Jr. did not work out. They say that is why he decided to leave worldly life.
This begs the question - could dad influence the promotion of his son along this very career ladder? After graduating from "Shchukinka" Sergei really did not get into any of the famous Moscow theaters, and played in the "Vernissage" theater, founded in 1989 by Yuri Nepomnyashchy. It was a stage-exhibition of, so to speak, unrecognized talents, organized according to the idea of the director Nepomniachtchi.
Initially "Vernissage" was called "Theater of Unplayed Roles", then "Theater of Unplayed Actors". Colleagues of Evgeny Steblov in the theater workshop recall that he sometimes complained that his son's talent was not appreciated. However, he never interfered in the creative process of his search for himself.
In "Vernissage" in 1995, Sergei got the main role in the play "Aliens. And three years earlier, Sergei Steblov created a touching image of Kostya in the film" Eyes. And the audience remembered this sweet, charming young man for a long time. His filmography is by no means poor. In 1998, two films were released with his participation: "The Barber of Siberia" and "At the Knives".
Yes, in the first picture this is a supporting role, and in the second it is episodic. However, the actor does not stop at this, but receives the education of a director and in 1999 he shot the short film "Werewolf" in this capacity. In 2003, Sergei Steblov showed himself to be the creator of documentary films ("Silver and the Mob").
In 2004-2005 he worked as a second director on the films "Four Taxi Drivers and a Dog", "A Place in the Sun", "The Seagull". For some time he gained experience with Nikita Mikhalkov in the "TriTe" studio and at the same time tried to shoot commercials. He created his own center "Steblov-Film". No matter how fascinating the direction was, acting work took place in these years.
Sergei Steblov starred in the TV series "Lyubov.ru" (2000), "Detectives of the regional scale", where he played the role of Zhogin. There were roles in the films "The Verdict", "I Know How to Be Happy". It is worth noting that the last three paintings date back to 2008. In 2009, another multi-part picture was released with the participation of Steblov the younger - "And there was a war."
The Steblov family was interrupted
Back in 2009, none of his relatives had the idea that in 2010 Sergei would go to a monastery. And he no longer just nurtured this thought, but was ready. He made a serious decision after visiting the Optina Pustyn monastery. Sergei Steblov was married, but the marriage fell apart, leaving no descendants behind.
Therefore, the parents, especially Tatyana Ivanovna, dreamed of grandchildren and constantly, either in jest or in earnest, hinted to their son that he should look out for his soul mate. The son obediently nodded his head, agreed, and he kept pulling this question. Only after the death of his mother will he immediately implement his plan.
And so quickly that the father will grieve for several months about the disappearance of Sergei, until he discovers a note hidden by his son at the dacha. Evgeny Steblov did not immediately accept the choice of his son, he certainly wanted to continue the family. However, when father and son talked frankly, all differences were settled.
The People's Artist, although not immediately, blessed his son for monasticism. They see each other once a year, when Yevgeny Yuryevich makes a long journey to the Solovetsky Monastery and stays there for a week, because there is no way to return from there earlier. Every time, in his own words, he goes there as for confession.
Today he thinks differently than right after the disappearance of his son: "What is a clan? A clan has been alive for 300 years. And one prayer book in a family saves seven generations of a clan." Perhaps he says this in his consolation and most likely in the words of Sergei. Evgeny Steblov understands what a heavy burden his son has taken upon himself, but he carries it very worthily.
