Childhood and adolescence
A military man and a teacher - this was exactly the family in which the future director was born in 1958. As is often the case, the military's family often moved from place to place. But the brightest years of childhood and adolescence were lived in Magadan. From a young age, Ursulyak was fond of reading adventure and historical literature. Sergei's summer vacation took place in the Moscow region. The director's grandmother lived there. It was an active time for visiting cultural places in Moscow - the theater and the philharmonic society. Thus, Sergei Ursulyak was introduced to art. Ursulyak was delighted with the works of Eldar Ryazanov. He considered them flawless. This was his authority. After high school, young Seryozha left for Moscow. The first attempt - and he is a student of the famous "Pike" at the faculty of Evgeny Simonov. And after graduation, Ursulyak was admitted to the Satyricon.
The path to filmmaking
For 11 years Ursulyak worked in the theater. He played famous characters from various works of classical Russian and foreign literature. But all this time, Sergei Vladimirovich dreamed of making a movie and becoming a film director. He twice failed the exams at VGIK, but on the third attempt, which happened in 1990, he entered Vladimir Motyl, becoming students of higher directing courses. The training lasted for three years. The author's first creative sketch was recognized in professional circles and was awarded the Kinotavr Prize. He made a film based on real events about the artist and director Roman Kozak "Russian Ragtime". A few years later, the film "Summer People" will be released. And again success, confirmed by the award of the Film Festival "Literature and Cinema" with the participation of Sergei Makovetsky. The documentary film, filmed in 1997 under the title "Notes of the House of the Dead", brings the director "TEFI" and "Golden Ram".
Director's life and set
Since the early 2000s, Ursulyak has been trying himself in different genres. This, for example, is an interesting detective series "Poirot's Failure" with the participation of many stars of Russian cinema in the person of A. Raikin, S. Makovetsky, the director's current wives - Lika Nifontova, as well as the spousal union of S. Nemolyaeva and A. Lazarev. The adaptation of the story "Long Farewell" - brings the award named after Miron Chernenko at the festival "Golden Eagle", as well as the prize of the film festival "Stalker". In 2007, the world saw Elimination. And the director was overtaken by a deafening success. He continued to shoot. One of the last works of Ursulyak is the series "Quiet Don" based on the famous work of Sholokhov. It stars the daughter of Ursulyak - Daria, in the role of the wife of Grigory Melekhov - Natalia. Last year, the series was awarded the Golden Eagle. At the moment, the director is busy with the adaptation of the novel "Bad Weather".
